Is there an Irish forum  where you  dispense your often useful advice and only occasionally balanced opinions to ex-patriot Spaniards -  whose sombreros  must be as helpful in protecting them from the soft but constant rain as panama hats in protecting bald British pates from ...

...the Spanish sun?

Thanks for that Bess. Happy New Year!

Now CJ as bad as I am at giving winning horse racing tips please note I confined my selections today to one Irish female jockey and one relatively small racing stable situated well away from the main Irish stables. One Winner and three seconds and a fourth place in five races in good class National Hunt Racing ain't bad, you know! Factor in my shortest price was 4/1 and the longest price ended up around 50/1.

Incidentally, in one of the races CaptainCJ (unhandy nag) finished well behind the first twelve.

Apologies, for not supplying a profit to anybody taking my racing advice. Cheltenham beckons, I hope.

And again Happy New Year to anybody looking in.

Racing continues at Leopardstown tomorrow. I think I'll keep my racing tips to myself.

OK! I wasn't going to impart my racing tips today after predicting only one win yesterday. But, I received two PM's from ladies of VeraPlaya/Mojacar Playa regarding suggestions for lady riders today at Leopardstown. So these are not my selections, but Rachel Blackmore is riding and for fun here are her horses (all but one trained by H de Bromhead).

12.05     Gaspard du Seuil  12/1

12.40     Dommage Pour Toi  20/1

1.15       French Dynamite 14/1 (not trained by HdB)

1.50       Boher Cailín 8/1

2.25       Minella Indo 5/2

3.00       Fully Charged 22/1

I feel I'm making Rachel Blackmore famous in the south of Spain. However, it's for the ladies who requested the info. Best of Luck today and I hope you make a few bob.

Update on the day after:- Rachel had a bad enough fall while riding Minella Indo and retired for the day. She appeared pretty shaken although perpendicular later. I hope she recovers soon. Incidentally, the winner of that race was A Plus Tard (from H de Bromhead stable) who's odds for Cheltenham Festival were cut from 50/1 to 14/1 immediately after the race. None of Rachel's horses were placed.

The flooding in 2012 was mainly caused by heavy rainfall 50 miles inland causing torrents of water to converge on the area.

Wow, is that true?

But its only 46 miles by road to get from one end of the island to the other.

Alun, We're talking mainland Spain. Vera is not an island neither is Spain. How are you so confused? Maybe we can help? Happy New Year.
