i Can attest to the efficacy of this, as I am close to someone that came over with an Australian licence which is not transferable in Spain.  As this person had a UK Passport, they swapped the Aussie licence for a UK one, then on receipt swapped the UK one for a Spanish one

...in Australia and there is no  agreement between Spain and Australia and would need to do a theory and driving tests.  So, hopefully this isn’t the case.  😄

Thanks for your reply.  Unfortunately, it does state on the back beside each category 70 AUS. Which means exchange of licence.  Fingers crossed. I’ll give it a try and see what happens.

You can but try - you’re exchanging a UK licence, so it should be irrelevant where it was obtained.  Like I say, I know someone who did it in 2018
