Just count backwards from the last day you wish to be in Spain.  Count back 180 days then count how many days you will have been in Spain.  As long as 90 or less in that 180 day period then you will be fine.  I use a calendar to mark down time in Spain.

Thank you Maggie , just sort of wanted to makesure then my brain melted

...ou for your reply but it just confuses me yes I know I must be thick

No Bobske, your not thick, it is very confusing, perhaps someone on here can explain it simply, what is simple to one can be very confusing to another, I think it depends on what generation you are from. but please dont think you are thick cos your not.

Yes that sound OK for your return .  Please don't leave just the one day off the 90, if anything doesn't go to plan and you go over,  you can be fined or refused entry next time you visit..

Just be careful not to overstay!

All you need do is count back 180 days.  If you have spent 90 days in the Schengen in that period, you have no time left in the Schengen.  It is a rolling 180 days though, so each day when you count back, you should find the time you’ve spent here in that period decreasing.

The very best way to do it is to either use one of the many Schengen calculators online, or get a Schengen Calculator app....

...

I’ll go and find a reliable calculator and edit the post with it in a moment.

EDIT:  I believe this one is reliable:-

Dario, you seem to be an oracle for all things travel related, so apologies if I'm overstepping here! I'm Irish, so I don't think that the 90/180 rule applies to me - prepared to be wrong and I'm staying within the guidelines currently. Do you know if the rule still applies to my British husband?

Thanks in advance O wise one!

Hi Naomi - correct, as an Irish passport holder, you are exempt the 90/180 restriction and can pretty much come and go as you please.  Your husband, however, as a UK passport holder has no such liberty I'm afraid and is restricted to 90/180
