"It's horses for courses but there appeared to be too many with vested interests reporting."
It's not vested interests, we wouldn't have bought in Palomares less than 6 months ago had there been any concerns - any at all - about the historic events and the current situation. And vested interests don't explain why the village has grown so much over the last 50 years or why we have commercial vegetable growers who supply Lidl and Mercadona within 500 metres of the centre of the village. To keep bringing up the small amount of contaminated soil (which is on the outskirts and just as close to the Thalassa complex as to Palomares) is just not very helpful unless there is solid evidence of current problems to back it up.
Palomares is a vibrant village with lots going on with a weekly market, bars and restaurants, shops, walking & cycling paths to the beach and so on. It's a shame you didn't like it whenever it was you visited but many of us DO like it and perhaps have more up-to-date info and news about it.
Hope things are going OK re your recent news.

Stay well.

I'd heard about the "red rain" while back here in Scotland, most odd. Hopefully other properties will have kept it away from us and we won't have to repaint. Go well.

I love Palomares!!!!
And one bonus, you will glow in the dark 😅😅😅
If there was any contamination it would cover a very much larger area well into Mojacar ! So we may see you beaming too ! !
2 square km's.
In 2004, a study revealed that there was still some significant contamination present in certain areas, and the Spanish government subsequently expropriated some plots of land which would otherwise have been slated for agriculture use or housing construction.[29]
On 11 October 2006, Reuters reported that higher than normal levels of radiation were detected in snails and other wildlife in the region, indicating there may still be dangerous amounts of radioactive material underground
Interesting .
It's amazing tho that all the vegetables etc that are grown in Palomares are still allowed to be grown and exported by Tescos a Sainsburys in the UK .
Surely if there was any danger this would not be allowed .
