Hello folks. Coming back to Spain late May. Been away for 1.5yrs. My son had bought and registered my car in Palma de Mallorca but I now want to register it near me (Palomares).
Also need a new ITV and insurance.
All new to me
Does anyone know where is the nearest ITV place near Palomares?

Can anyone recommend an insurance? I had used a broker in Palma but want to get someone closer to Palomares (southern Spain). Do you know whether it’s possible to cancel an insurance after 6 months and get the unused time reimbursed? I live in New Zealand and can do it here. Crazy to pay insurance for 2 cars when each is only used 1/2 year.
Where can I go to register my car? Cuevas? Vera? Is it at the local council (ayuntamiento).

What do I need to do first? Is there a particular order I need to follow. If anyone knows a broker / consultant that might be good. But my Spanish is reasonably good now that I might do it myself but have no idea where to start.
Any help/tip/advise would be highly appreciated.
BTW I have a NIE and have a Schengen passport as I am German, so, this might be easier than for some other people? Not sure. Many thanks in advance

Gabi

Well if your Spanish is good then when you want your ITV I would recommend ITV in Águilas. The mechanic I use strongly suggested that I not use  the ITV station in Vera too strict.

I have  also 'heard' that the Vera station is a training ground so they can be quite meticulous.

Not than there is anything wrong with that per se, after all it is a car saftey check.

So I used  Águilas my mechanic told me I could just rock up you do not need to make an appointment.

Turned out to be true. about the appointment and my car breezed through in under 15 mins.

Not that I expected to fail I keep it in top shape.

My mechinic has no English what so ever, but he is reasonable and reliable.

He is here in Mojácar behind the Football stadium and seems to be campo so if you leave your car you will need a lift to Palomares.

I live five minutes away so he brings me home and collects me when he is done with my car.

For insurance i can recommend Linea Directa.  They have an English line and everything is done on line.

Closest ITV to Palomares is Vera, however if you want a drive, ITV La Hoya in Lorca have a good reputation for being helpful, English speaking and not needing an appointment
