I do - I live at Valle del Este.  Rent here is VERY reasonably priced - in the Urbanización in which I’m in, around 450€ a month will get you a two bedroom duplex with garden, or even a three bed ground floor with garden.

Electricity varies - more expensive in winter, but on average we pay around 65€ per month.  Water is through Codeur and is 38€ per two months....

...

We have HolaFibra for Internet, it’s Fibre to the door - well, in fact to the modem as it is an optical network terminal; for a genuine 100 Mbps up and down, we pay 30€ per month.

Maintenance of gardens, hedges, lawns and pool in the complex is all included and as a renter you pay no extra.

Valle del Este resort is a Golf resort.

Hi, thanks for that, very helpful, we are considering renting first with the option to buy when we find the right area for us, cheers Stewert.

Palomares is quiet .  It is a village within easy walking distance to the beach .

There are Supermarkets Pharmacy Bakers Ironmongers Bars and  Restaurants .

There are all Nationalities enjoying the quiet life with villaricos  and Vera Playa also a short walk away.

Good luck with your search .

Viva Palomares!

We came out here to sign some papers at the bank and buy a few bits and bobs for the apartment at the beginning of March and we've been 'trapped' here ever since. Even under lockdown we would rather be here than anywhere else (mind you, our UK address is in the Rhondda). All the facilities we have needed for the last 2 months have been on our doorstep. We are a 3 minute stroll to the Calle Mayor, our own Calle is on a regular route of a shepherd who appears to have the 'freedom of the city', the Spanish neighbours have embraced us (metaphorically) even though I have the Spanish language skills of a 2yr old, and I am dreading having the opportunity to return back to the UK being forced upon me.

"Why Palomares?" Well, why not? Most of the radioactive topsoil was carted off back to Uncle Sam years ago, and no more pockets of radioactivity have been discovered for over a decade. The health authorities no longer bother with the free health tests available to residents as no issues were being flagged up and everyone list interest. Personally, I've seen plenty of old people still breathing and no youngsters with two heads or gills or whatever. So, Palomares?

Viva Palomares!

Thanks for the reply, as I said previously we are not familiar with Palomares, but we are with the surrounding area, Vera, Mojacar, Vilaricos, etc, unfortunately we have just had our holiday to Mojacar cancelled that was going to be our opportunity to visit, we have however rebooked for next year so like many things in these uncertain times everything is on hold at the minute. I am intrigued as to why prices for property seem so much cheaper in Palomares compared to the surrounding areas, having done a bit of research into the old B52 and its payload that doesn't give me any concerns but just wondered if that's what is keeping prices low🤔🤔.

Do you mind me asking about running costs ie electricity, water and other utilities? We are not of retirement age yet so presume we will have to get private health care. We intend to retire early and spend the kids inheritance on enjoying ourselves in our twilight years (at least they can get free holidays). Thanks again for any help and advice you can send my way, Stewert.

We've still not yet received our first electricity bill, our water was €8.50, I think that was for the first month, I still haven't received another so I'm not too sure (they also hold a retainer of about €33.00 which you get back when you move on) Internet is about€30.00 per month, with a connection/installation fee of about€100 and Next Communication do a UK TV package for a one-off payment of€100.

I'll let you know if I get any more bills, perhaps we can go halves.

😉

Just had our first electric bill... I feel like a proud father! lb64.10oz.

How long that's for, exactly, I'm not sure as I haven't yet worked out how to access my online bill, (all I've got is the bank's direct debit order) but from the time we bought the place up to the date on the bill it was a tad over 10 weeks.

In truth, that's a tiny bit more than I was expecting; it's a small apartment and we haven't used the air-conditioning hardly at all (end of Feb to early May) but on the other hand, the misses does a lot of cooking. (which I don't complain about)

Hope that helps

😎

Looking at the email, I'd say 64,10€ for the month.  That's about right, ours runs at around 70,00€ per month
