Hi all

In the last couple of weeks we have had flying ants infestation coming from our beams ( old cortijo). They just suddenly seem to hatch and drop out of gaps in the ceiling  beams!!! We have been blasting with insect spray and hoovering up!! Just had a new lot from the dining room ceiling on 3 beams at once!! Any advice or companies that could sort it? Itching all over

Think they may be termites rather than flying ants.   There is a spray that you can buy in the ferrateria that will kill them.  Not sure how you go about getting rid of them in a cortijo.  We had them in the door frames in a modern villa. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news and hope you get them sorted out.   Regards Karen

Hi Vanessa,

They are termites and you need to get rid of them they will destroy your beams, you need to inject your beams with a solution called  Carcoma Termita Polilla, you can get it from any ferreteria, its comes with a long fine tube, you have to insert the tube into the holes in the beams that the termites have made to kill them off.
