...take up residency under the old conditions of before Jan 21 . Are you then covered under any Eh1c card or similar or did you need private health cover?

...have been waiting in excess of two years and I read that the Department of Justice is to write to these people with an update. It cost me in total around €1200, €150 for initial application, €950 fee when approved and then additional fees going back and forward to solicitors to get documents signed, stamped and authenticated. I then obviously have to pay the passport fee when this is possible but I may still have to travel on my UK passport until things go back to normal in the Irish passport office

Think in total it cost about £750 but, worth its weight  in gold when it comes to Residency application and effects. Spousal rights etc. Finances etc.

Had to register my birth in the Uk with the Irish then applied for the passport, fairly easy IF you have all the relevant birth and death certificates to hand , which I did, fortunately,  due to one of my uncles still having Grandads Birth Certificate. A VERY old and tatty document!

Only problem now for people like yourself is that there is a very long wait for the Irish passports at the moment.

I got in before it got really busy. The cost was for everything I needed, birth and death certificate etc, obviously a lot more people have applied,hence the longer waiting times, but well worth it in the long run, as we are,hopefully, moving down later this year to retire.
