Hi ,I have an Irish passport,so I'm within eu regulations I hope

You are indeed Paul; free from the 3rd Country nation Visa Restrictions, you can arrive, settle and work.  HOWEVER ... you really are going to need to learn Spanish - especially if you want to teach in the off-season months.  Down this way, Whilst quite a few Spanish speak some English, it's quite often only a few words.

Beings you are able to come and settle, I'd advise renting in the area and checking it out.  Getting a full-time job - Contrato Completo - is not impossible, but it must be said, very unlikely, which means you'll need to register as Autónomo (self employed).  This makers it easier for sports centres etc to take you on as you are then a "contractor" - and they are not responsible for paying your Autónomo - the equivalent of National Insurance  (yes, confusing ... Autónomos pay autónomo - well EVERYBODY that works either pays or has paid for them autónomo.  And it isn't cheap!! - about 350€ a month, but you cannot work without it)

If you do come over and work as self-employed, get a good gestor or asesor(a) to help you register because it's a frigging bureaucratic nightmare .... ask me how I know!!

Hi.

As you live in Belfast, NI I presume you only have a UK passport. As like rest of the UK this means you no longer have the privileges of being in the EU.

This sadly means you have very low chances of getting a work Visa as a swimming instructor. It also sounds unlikely that you are considering applying for a non-working Visa (Golden). The new Digital Nomad Visa is good but it requires you to be an IT nomad or remote worker who can work over the Internet, as a consultant for example.

If you have extra skills that may qualify for that, it could be worth exploring but it has a very comprehensive application procedure.

Sadly Brexit killed off previously fluid movement in EU for work.

I wish I could share more optimistic news. That said, I'm not an expert but having been through the process since Brexit my advice is based on personal experience.

Very best wishes and good luck.

Hi

Northern Ireland passport same as Southern Ireland so all EU benefits

I've read replies from others as regards Irish passport/ Brexit etc, so it looks like you have that part covered. As to teaching swimming, a reasonable to high level of fluency in Spanish will be an absolute must. You will also need to ensure that your professional qualifications are recognised in Spain - often they are not. I had to retake my qualifications in order to teach Pilates in Spain - my UK qualifications were not recognised. Most town council pools employ staff to teach a variety of sporting activities, so if you were fortunate enough to be hired by a town council pool, it would more than likely be because you also had qualifications ( again, recognised in Spain) for swimming, personal training, Pilates, etc. and would be expected to teach all of these disciplines within your working day. If you get over that hurdle, make sure any contact of employment specifies "Teacher" and not "Monitor". The 2 are very different in terms of both qualifications required and pay scale. Pools here are open from about 07.30 until 22.00 and the majority of swimming classes ( for children) are held between 16.40 and 19.00 - so earnings are slim to be honest. You might pick up more work as an autonomo, but then you face having to make your monthly social security payments, ( currently around €320 per month) which would be extremely hard to do given your likely earnings. On top of that you'd need to calculate the cost of Responsibilidad  Civil ( personal liability insurance), monthly rent and utilities bills, good, transport and annual income tax ( the tax free allowance is much lower in Spain than the UK). That's just a quick list, so I strongly advise you to do your research very thoroughly on the viability of being able to afford to live out here based on PT work as a swimming teacher. Best of luck with your plan.

Hi I want to rent for 6 months possible 1 year to experience living in Spain. I have lived for 6 months in Torrox Costa but it's quite expensive and very quiet too. Can someone recommend a good rental agent please?
