Hi sorry to hijack the thread, I was looking to purchase a 2nd lhd bmw in germany and drive it down. Lhd's are so expensive in uk.

Sorry can't help you only telling you my experiences

You can buy lhd in the UK, couldn't see wherein they'd be that much more then the German equivalent.

If you are buying living accommodation in Spain you’ll need to be on the padrón and if you buy a car in Spain you need to be on the padrón. You get this from the local town hall. You can get great advice from Cat Services in Alfoquia. 
im not sure but if you move from UK and buy a house you don’t pay importation tax on the car if importation is done as if the car is a chattel. 

I agree, though best to buy a LHD car in Spain. Yes, they are more expensive than UK but you have peace of mind and don’t need too much paperwork. And the expenses involved. A LHD car from anywhere in Europe has still to be imported.   Oh one last thing, when you buy ensure all taxes are paid on the vehicle and it has a current ITV ( mot) certificate,
