Hello

Having spent many years growing up in southern Spain, we now wish to purchase our own property. Please could anyone advise on reliable English speaking estate agents that could help find our future home.

We bought through VIP Mojacar a couple of years ago and they were excellent. We also found Veritas to be very professional. If you are looking a little further inland Olive Properties, Coles of Andalucia and Dream Homes Almeria are very good and reliable.

Speaking from experience, never use the solicitor the estate agent wants you to use. Get recommendations from other people out of the area you are buying in. Good luck.

We can fully recommend Dream Homes Almeria. Andrea is English and has worked in Estate Agency in Almeria for many years. They always go the extra mile and are willing to spend as much time as necessary to find you your special new property. Post sale they are always more than helpful with any information or assistance you may need to settle into your new locality.

As stated on this forum it is not advisable to use a solicitor recommended by an estate agent.  We used Angela Morales in Mojacar  She is really professional and if you are prepared to give her power of attorney she will handle everything regarding the conveyancing / obtaining NIE / opening bank account / and dealing with local town hall and utility companies and obtaining home insurance etc. She also speaks perfect English and will accompany you to the Notaria for the completion of the purchase

Hope you find your perfect place in Alm

Hi Suzanne

It is good to see that people have had good experiences with other estate agents, but I have to agree with Susan and Kevin. We are just completing our house purchase with Spanish Property Choice and they have been wonderful. So professional, helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Whatever you decide, best wishes for the future.

I would recommend Cole’s of Andalusia. Bought my property through them. Simon who owns the company is English and couldn’t have been more helpful

We called into their Vera office when house hunting 3 years ago and the young lady was not in the least interested, extremely poor customer service.

I wasn't aware that Coles had an office in Vera.  Los Gallardos and now Turre, as far as I know, have been and are their offices.  Maybe you are confusing them with someone else.

From my personal experience, Coles seems a serious and efficient estate agent and the staff I have met have been truly fluent in Spanish.  I stress this because a lot of agents who are not Spanish are not completely fluent enough to understand the ins and outs of selling property in Spain, dealing with legal and other snags that can crop up. Most of us wouldn't know this if we don't know the laws here or the language really well.

I would recommend Coles in Turre K7 in Mojacar and my local agents in Sorbas Cortijos Almeria - if you want to look for something rural.  I have had experience of using these agencies and would say that they know what they are talking about and do their job as well as present circumstances allow.
