Both myself n husband are toying with the idea of relocating to Almeria in the nxt year or so and wondered what the market was like for retail and property maintenance jobs.

I have been a retail/customer service.     manager for .. ahem a few years (decades) 🤗.... and my husband has his own property maintenance business here in the south coast Uk. He can literally do anything!

I would also like to get into villa/apartment management -happy to clean and manage  change overs for holiday makers.

Think both myself and husband have a lot to offer in the right situation x

Hi there’s an awful lot of people doing same stuff , I carry out same kind of work , doesn’t mean to say there’s no room for more, although some posters will tell you it’s saturated . Lol

It’s a big place and there’s no shortage of workers that’s for sure.

I use a mix of sub work here 50/50 Spanish English but one thing is for sure , I’ve ran my own kitchen bathroom , tiling etc etc business for 20 years in the uk and we moved lock stock and barrel . Got loads of work but the self employments an eye opener at €285 a month . We also do property reforms, management , cleaning etc . Don’t forget it’s a very big place and be prepared to travel . Hope this helps

Property Maintenance, toying with moving to Spain = Normal thoughts of somebody looking for a warmer climate and to earn a few bob at the same time = Recipe for Disaster (with a capital D).

Sorry for the negativity, but have you considered the basics i.e. renting out your UK home to finance the venture, if you don't speak good Spanish you're immediately halving your target market. How long can you stay in Spain earning low income? That's before Residentia, Tax, accommodation, family matters, etc. Will you get positive support and sharing from the English speaking community in Spain? Like a fisherman who has just discovered an over yielding salmon hole in a nearby river, no chance! There is no such thing as the soft buck in Spain.

We don't know what age you are, but your honesty must be recognized. If I were you I wouldn't lose sight of the goal, but I would do every bit of homework carefully to ensure the future venture will be positive.

Oh I agree there’s lots to consider for sure, no where as easy as people think.

There is so many post where the husband can do anything , if you already have business in uk doing the same , prob best not to down the route of anything as u will become a handyman, covering many many miles and working some days and earning a €100 and some days nothing . It took 20 years for me to build a stable business in uk and not to have to look for work. I’m currently turning down about £5000 turnover a week due to repeat custom contacting me and I can tell ya that hurts. But there’s also some trades that think they can do a job but can’t and end up never being used again or the oldest one of all , the tradesman that comes Here wanting to work 2 weeks a month and spend rest on the beach, problem is with that is who’s paying for the other 2 , Lol the customer probably . Don’t get me wrong I can’t say it’s not a better life it certainly is for us. There’s one main reason for that . I just simply detest cold , wet weather as it affects my diary , I’ve had enough of it 😂😂😂

One thing we’re really glad of is we’ve cut all ties to uk , cos it’s dear enough out here without having to keep popping back lol
