But my colleagues from work who are from Italy and France and Spain just came to this country and work here. They’re free to come and go. No restrictions.

I googled asking “how long can I stay in Spain without becoming a resident?”

Reply

“You can stay in Spain for a maximum of 183 days per year (6 months) in order to not become a resident. If you spend an extra day (184 days and onwards) you will be regraded as a resident hence paying resident taxes in the country.”

Very confusing!

Found the links.  First is from gov.uk

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-in-spain#visas-and-residency

And this from Relocations España; it speaks specifically to EU / EEA citizens coming to Spain

https://www.relocationspain.com/en/guide-eueea-citizens-moving-spain/

I found the link you spoke of as well - dangerously incorrect information there.  These two I hope should Present themselves as a shade more reliable.

For those coming here, the following, posted first elsewhere by Chrisso50 may be useful.  Please note the restrictions applying to beaches:

LIMITED CAPACITY

The occupancy in bars and restaurants is expanded to 75%.

Cinemas and theatres may reach 65% of their normal occupation.

Open-air concerts can be performed with a maximum of 1,500 attendees, always seated.

Common areas of the hotels have a capacity of 50%.

In cinemas, theaters, auditoriums, circuses and similar public or private spaces, there must be pre-assigned seats, provided they do not exceed 65% of the capacity allowed in each room, allowing a maximum attendance of 800 people for closed places and 1,500 people in outdoor activities.

NURSING HOMES

New admissions will be allowed in residential centres where no cases of coronavirus have been registered during the last week.

BEACHES

The general rule of 1.5m minimum social distance or use of a mask must be maintained.

SPORT:

Outdoors a maximum capacity of 65% is established, with a limit of 1,500 people. In closed spaces, the capacity will be 65% maximum, with a limit of 800 people.

FAIRS & PILGRIMAGES:

Fairs and pilgrimage celebration are not recommended. But, where appropriate, the fair attractions authorized by the municipalities may occupy a row of seats at 50%, with at least 1.5 metres between seats; attractions without seats may have 50% of the capacity with a safety distance, and 30% of capacity in attractions without seats in which the safety distance cannot be guaranteed, but with a mask and hand disinfection.  (We have not made a decision yet regarding the annual fiestas but they are unlikely to go ahead.)

CREMATIONS & BURIALS:

The maximum will be 60 people outdoors and 30 in closed spaces. The maximum procession will be 75 relatives or close friends, always keeping the interpersonal distance or, where appropriate, using a mask.

Hi everyone

As we will be buying a property in that area very soon, my husband and I are Keen to know all the places to buy things like DIY , bed linen, furniture, and also local tradesmen and all that. If anyone can give us good idea of where to go as we noticed Mojacar, Los Galllardos, Bedar, Garrucha don’t seem to have anything like that. Maybe I’m wrong but we didn’t see any major stores around.

We would love if anyone can give us ideas of where to go shopping for the above.

Thanks in advance for any information.

ETIAS which was supposed to have been introduced in 2021 would have certainly ensured that, as to visit from outside the Schengen area you would have to apply online for a visa.

However, more airports are now using the automatic gates which scan your passport when entering.  This records your entry date....

...

You can certainly be sure that passport entry dates will be more closely scrutinized post transition period.

Hi, just interested in what you said about the gates at the Airports checking your Passports. What if you drive into Spain from Say France or Portugal, theres no checking of Passports then is there .

As soon as you cross from the UK, there is passport control, and it’s as soon as you leave UK and enter the Schengen area that your 90 days starts, so whilst your passport won’t be checked France to Spain, any subsequent check for any reason will show the date you entered Schengen area
