Well, Anyone who didn’t have their passport stamped or scanned on the way out could be stuck as the authorities will assume you are still in Spain!  Did the borders officers know this ?  You are not alone though, plane loads were unstamped and just waved through sadly.

We visited in October and also didn't have our passports stamped when exiting Alicante airport. There was actually no passport check other than the airline staff when at the boarding gate. However, surely if when you fly back into the country its obvious to passport control officers that you've been back to the UK as they'll know where you're flying in from albeit they won't know how long you've been gone for! Hopefully common sense would prevail and we've still got our previous flight details, the Spanish Travel Health form etc.

Would be interesting to see if anyone's had this experience and if they encountered any issue when returning to Spain?

I hope you are ok for getting back in.  As I hope for everyone who may have been caught out in this way. I cannot for the life of me understand why people on here are suddenly Against Anyone who is not resident in Spain.  They say the 90 day rule is enforced by border control.   “ and rightly so “.  What are they like ?   I think it’s a very unfriendly forum now and not a nice place to ask a question if you are non resident.

Sorry, I miss understood your comment .  We built our place in 2002.   and we are also aware, but for some reason ,people think we have no clue!   I don’t have the hump with residents at all, all my friends are residents.  I’ve got the hump with people who seem to take the greatest pleasure rubbing it in to people who only want a bit more time on one trip to look after their properties. If it’s only a case of flying over in a few hours, it’s not a biggy, if like us, people have to drive ,ferry/tunnel,and  drive again. then same on the return , then it’s a three or four day expedition just to get here , + 3 hotels, £1600 minimum cost , Twice a year. Yes, I do get the hump, wouldn’t anyone?   As i’ve said, it’s not a friendly place on here .

Hi sky yes I do agree.there is a lot of smugness going on here at the min.and I do feel for you and your situation  that is a lot of money on top of everything else that goes with it.regarding your pets.(as I've previously read).Spain has become a expensive place to own a property and live since brexit and let's just hope our investment wasn't wasted in a few years time when the dust settles.

But personally for me.it was covid that stopped me going to Spain.not the 90 day rule.i always abided by the 90 day rule so nothing has changed for me.

Keep your chin up hun.life is to short.

You never no what's round the next corner x

Thank you Darrin.   I appreciate that very much and Yes, you got the correct word Smugness. They just don’t understand.  Covid was what stopped a lot of people, We couldn’t get back for 15 months and having responsibility for a house that’s sitting all that time and so far away is horrible, but then just had to organise the “Expedition “ as we had to keep everything right at the bank and check on the house, which honestly I just didn’t want to do, I couldn’t have cared less if I was ever in Spain again !  Kindest regards ,stay safe. Hi trudi my wife is exactly the same as you at min hence why I'm still here in England, she speaks great Spanish and I'm only basic.so without her I can't realistically go on my own.even though I'm itching to go over now,as you no its been over 2 years and she won't budge.shes happy to walk away from it.but it's not that easy for me.ive a property invested over there sitting there doing nothink never mind all the bills car insurance prop tax.gestoria fees. But I try to not let it get me down as I feel there's a lot people worse off than my self.and hopefully one day it will get back there and enjoy my stays once again.

As dario constantly says we just have to get on with what we're given we personally didn't make the call but the democracy did.i full get your point, but it's never going to happen.time to just enjoy what time we have regardless.

Take care trudi and stay safe.x
