Ah - many thanks for proving I’m not Xenophobic then - that clears that up and finally puts the nonsense to rest. Beings I am one of those “people from another country” I’d have to hate myself for the above to be even remotely true and, I can assure you, I definitely don’t 😁

I have nothing against Brit homeowners having better access and as I have pointed out, a route already exists for that - get an NLV which is good for up to 12 months and don’t renew. It’s a *path* to residency if desired - but residency is not obligatory.

But there are some who wholeheartedly supported Brexit, claimed they understood what it meant, but are now complaining about access to second homes … this is what you voted for. If you got what you want, why are you now complaining about losing something you were apparently prepared to happily sacrifice?

Once again, a blessed and joyous festive season to one and all, however you choose to celebrate it; eat, drink and be merry and go forth boldly into the new year with hope and happiness.

The opening sentance-
'France’s parliament has passed a law which will allow British second home owners to stay in the country for up to 6 months without a visa'
This giving rise to the vitrol spewing again.
What is not mentioned by Geordiemark is that is is not a law yet.
It is not yet clear how the new rules will work nor when they will come into force. It is also possible that the Constitutional Council, France’s equivalent of the Supreme Court, could reverse the decision.
Jolly said: “At the moment all we know is that a law has been passed. A note of caution needs to be exercised; the law could be deemed unconstitutional as it favours one group of foreigners over another.”
I also suspect that the EU will have some imput on this as well.
So the poor Brit home owers are still in limbo until it is resolved.
As a side note I have met Dario and I would have struggle mightly to match him with the xenophobic BRIT hating person he is portrayed to be here.
Where some people get thier ideas boggles the mind.
Not that Dario needs any help defending himself.
He's quite capable of speaking for himself and I think that a vast majoity of memebrs on of this site find his post extremely helpful and insightful.

Sorry Airtaine, it is not how Dario is portrayed, but how he portrays himself to be, in his sanctimonious way. He certainly has a right to his views and the right to express them, just the same as all others do who participate. May be he just does it to wind people up. Who knows?

I never challenge anybody about their spiritual or religious beliefs or even their non beliefs. As a matter of fact, I don't even talk about such except within our family circles. People are entitled to their beliefs and it's a basic freedom and deserves respect. But, try and tell that to some posters here who believe they stand on a very high moral ground. Just remember (another quotable quote from Matt coming up . . .):- The High Moral Ground Might Just be a Low Place to be!!!!!!!

There was a Good Guy around around 2000 years ago who said:- Let he who is without sin cast the first stone (probably a better quotable quote than mine).

Please cop on guys and show respect - it costs nothing.

Another misinformed comment. I think you will find BOTH sides told porkies. How about i tell you some of remains......We will have a recession. We will lose 1 million jobs. There will have to be an emergency budget. We will no longer be able to get medicines from Europe and finally aircraft registered here won't be allowed in EU airspace.

Why do people take a single position and not just research actual facts rather than posit half truths.

And for purposes of disclosure i voted remain, reluctantly but i did. I just am open minded about how ALL politicians lie not just the ones i don't support.

Did I say that only one side lied? Don't think I did. You're the one quoting recession and job loses, blah blah blah, so you are the one making uninformed, misinformation.

They are politicians, they lie. It comes naturally to them. It really doesn't matter what one side says, the opposition will say the opposite, it's what they do.

And yup, no recession (covid excepted) and the job market continues to be tight. Unlike say Germany. Nothing I said was untrue, your comment was only half true even if by omittance. There's a difference.

It's not my intent to refight Brexit. As i said I was a reluctant remainer but i do get excised by people picking 'facts' that justify only their viewpoint and not facing the truth that all sides lied.....who would ever have thought politician's lie!!
