The only advice I can give is that in the Barcelona area do not stop for anyone unless of course it's the police. It's well known for foreign cars to be stopped and robbed.

Good luck in your journey

Back in the day we used to drive from Ireland through the UK and onto France, resting beneath the Pyrenees before driving onto Mojacar. If your marriage is intact by the time you reach Mojacar, it will survive anything. Go for it.

A friend of mine did it in his EV car last year( Well Aspe to Birmingham). Said it was a mare. Route planned via charging stations meant loads more miles and took him 4 days. That's where an EV car fails. Just not the infrastructure in place for long distance drives. If it was me I'd do the long crossing and miss out France altogether.

This made me chuckle. Thank you.

Hoping we will survive the journeys then, plus the added dogs.... but can't be more painful than 28 years of marriage, surely? Ha Ha

Morning to you.   Well I have just been speaking to a retired couple who travelled from Northern France to Spain and told me that NOT AGAIN TO DO THIS TRIP.  They got SCAMMED in France and ROBBED in just inside the Spanish border. Yes Robbed of a €1000 euros.  (They flag you down about a problem with your car and one person goes to check the problem the other person is inside your car.   Me personally only travel to Northern Spain (Santander/Bilbao) and travel on the ferry (24hrs).  It is a lot safer

We have a hybrid and thus try to use ev mode where possible.  Our experience is that most motorway services in France have charging points but few in spain do - depending on range therefore you might consider an overnight stop in spain at a hotel which has a charging point ( we saw one at a hotel just off the motorway north of Barca tor example.

Thanks for reply but my car is

diesel so I do not have that problem. It is a fantastic ferry service and I stop about half way about 6hrs.

Apologies I thought I was replying to the post about the EV trip - poor iT skills on my part 😁
