Good afternoon

I wonder if one of you good people could point me in the direction of a Spanish Sim. We have until earlier this year been using our English phones at no extra cost. Unfortunately due to another Brexit bonus we are now paying international rates when using. Is there any advantage to using a prepaid sim for calls in Spain and England. Mainly texts or WhatsApp. We do have Wi-Fi in our property, which I’m told means WhatsApp is not charged?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi, I would ask your Internet provider if they do a special offer on sims. We get a good rate with Rediber for combined wi fi /sim.

You are correct that what's app is free but can only be used if you have a signal.

Benefit of having a Spanish number is that some places here don't accept English numbers on their systems.

Good Luck 🤞

That’s very helpful Nelingaz.

We have a turn on, turn off deal with Avanza. I’ll se if they do a sim deal.

I’ve just looked at my mobile invoice following our visit last month. It appears they charge £2 every day you’re out of the country. Plus any calls/text in addition.

I can recommend Digimobil if you need.  They are carried by Movistar so have the widest coverage in Spain.

They offer a variety of packages e.g. for 10€ a month you can choose to have 20GB data and unlimited National calls OR 20GB data and 400 minutes national AND international calls.  As you go up the price scale you get more minutes / data.

They also offer a dedicated English language helpline.  As an aside you can roam in UK on Digi if neccessary - I have just returned from UK and was roaming on 3 UK & O2-UK who are their partner networks.

Incidentally, you can swap your plan from the Digi app month to month to cater for changing needs with absolutely no penalty at all

Many thanks for this Dario.
I have got a Tesco sim with some credit on. Depending how that goes and if they stop roaming, I’ll definitely investigate Digimobil.

Grateful for all the feed back 👍

You could also try Lobster, they have packages starting from 12€ per month that can be parked and restarted as required if you are not here full time and provide free calls and texts to the whole of Europe including the UK and all in English...

I'm with Dario. Didgi mobile every day of th week. Used them for seven years now. Good customer service in English too. Rapid response when we had a phone stolen. They blocked the card and transferred the balance to my new card.
