The problem with Movistar is they don’t offer short term contracts and they usually supply only bundles, not WiFi on its own.

Why not get a Spanish SIM from Digi or Lobster that gives Data only, and use a phone with that SIM as a hot spot / wireless router?

There ARE companies that offer a Wireless router with a Data only SIM, but I don’t know if they do short term.  I would look at Orange, Next, possibly Vodaphone.  You can look at Movistar but be warned they have a reputation for price hikes after ‘n’ weeks / months buried in the fine print of the contract and absolutely atrocious customer service.

You could buy a 4g router for about £60 from e bay or Amazon so the phone isn’t tied up too

Yep, excellent idea - then get a data-only SIM

Hi, I’ve just posted a portable WiFi router for sale. Boxed and as new condition as only used for around 10 days whilst we were waiting for broadband to be fitted. Receipt and 3 year warranty.
