Hi Em68, that's good to know. We'll only be taking the 2 x dogs and I'm assuming wet dog food is OK to take through?

Other than that, just clothes, a few DIY tools, only my drill and a load of screwdrivers and some personal things like photos and paperwork for life insurance etc.

Kind regards,

Chris

We have just come through Santander port this morning 3 May. Passport control first which as just been moved to a new location. Then it's customs, drive straight through with nothing to declare they'll stop you if they want. Turn to the right if carrying pets. They know you've got them from when you checked in! As long as you have the documents for your pets there shouldn't be a problem. Everything else is a breeze. Good luck and enjoy Spain.

Thank you for taking the time to post it's very nice to hear.

Kind regards,

Number the boxes .... just incase you are the one to be stopped..... and write what is in them and a value..... not in detail, maybe 'tools' and then value them as second hand .... so maybe €10 euros..... pictures are only worth the second hand frames! €5 for the box..... then if.... and I say...IF.. you are stopped then you are ready for it!  They will just open a couple of boxes and there will be a small import duty on what YOU value the items as. We paid very little.....  But the Spanish love their paperwork!

I am sure it will be OK, as you have dogs they will be more interested in their paperwork. It is just as you are being stopped with them they might decide to take more interest in your belongings! Hope you enjoy your move.

Thanks again NannieH. We're treating it as the start of a new adventure.

Can't wait to get out there now. We've been waiting for this moment for approximately 8 years.

After watching place in the sun, Sun sea and selling houses and bargain loving brits etc.... its now our time to make happy memories together.

Thank you for your info, it's always good to hear great first hand experiences.

Kind regards,

Chris n Paula

Renting in La Alfoquia for 6 mths initially, while we look for a place in or around Arboleas, La Alfoquia, Zurgena or Huercal Overa areas.

We will both be 60 this year so it's time for us now to go and enjoy our twilight years somewhere friendly, warm and sunny.

Not forgetting the great food..... we love food, Paula's the sweet and I'm the savoury. Lol. Can't wait to eat more tapas.

Just realised you're from Los Gallardos area, we looked around there, liked Los Gallardos, Vera and Turre and we want to look around Antas when we get out there in October / November.

Hope you find somewhere nice, we are in Huerta Nueva, a suberb of L.G.  10 mins to Mojacar, but quieter and busses for when we get past driving! More for your money as well. And when the high speed train finally gets here (2026 now), we are quite close to Vera town and the new station for people visiting via Alicante airport. Hope you are able to get residencia.... Spanish love their hoops and paperwork!
