Hi Breianne,
One of the most stressful things you can do in life is move; moving countries adds an extra level of stress ... Iâve done it four times now and it never gets easier! Itâs understandable that youâll want to get as much sorted out as possible before you leave. That being said, Iïżœ...

...ïżœll state the obvious and just say ... Spain isnât England đ
By that I mean youâll find a much more relaxed way of life here, but that also extends to the way things are done ..... mañana đ
First. Pets. We flew our kitty cat in, but came from much further afield than UK; so driving wasnât an option. Both methods have their own benefits and Iâd be hopeful that someone with experience of bringing a pet in from UK will weigh in here.
Floods. Weâre in Vera, about 7km from the coast .... weâve seen no flooding at all. I do know that the shops on the big roundabout entering Garrucha (Bougainvillea roundabout) flood every so often - local information suggests about every 5 - 7 years - THAT BEING SAID - itâs right next to a river that floods ..... I donât think itâll make much difference being inland, unless your up in the mountains!
Coastal areas obviously get busy in June / July / August but are very beautiful. I love the area we are in and love waking up and seeing the Mediterranean from my window; others though will entreat you to move inland to other Expat areas such as Urcal, Albox, La Alfoquia etc. Turre is also âinlandâ but closer to the coast. Again, big expat community there as well as MojĂĄcar, on the coast.
Pension - no idea. As far as I am aware, your pension is unaffected and again, as far as I am aware, remains unaffected by Brexit. Again, hoping someone with experience will weigh in.
With regards estate agents and lawyers, YES, I have recommendations, both English speaking and I will send you details by private message ......
Ok - if I come up with anything else, Iâll add more on this thread

Hi, me and my wife are moving over to Spain next month and bringing our cat who's quite old and does not mix with other animals having been a house cat.
So with pet carriers usually bringing over several animals at once and ferries rules meaning she would have had to bunk up dormitory style with other pets we've decided to drive over in a small van bringing suitcases and tools with us too.
We got her a pet passport, paid a little fee for her on the chunnel and that's it.
In terms of property have you looked at Bedar? It's a beautiful village perched on the side of the mountain with views to the coast, which is a 20mins drive away.
Has a bank, GP's surgery, mini-markets, delivery vans and three eateries/ bars, oh and an Indian restaurant now.
Best of luck

Hi Chris,
A very warm hello and thanks.
Brian and I are certainly open to various areas, i.e. regions and places in Spain and will look up Bedar over the bank holiday. Sounds lovely!
In regards of a 'pet passport' how is this attained and if you dont mind my asking, anything regarding the process of arranging and travelling over by chunnel and own or hired transport please?
Thank you very much for getting in touch, its really appreciated.
Best wishes
Breianne
No problem
The pet passport was issued by our vet: Who checked her microchip, gave her a rabies jab and a good look over. No photo just her chip reference No. - Easy enough, cost us ÂŁ135
Chunnel: Booked on-line, the three of us in a van over 6ft tall with 3 days roadside assistance for the vehicle cost around ÂŁ180 - Again easy enough to book as the webbies a good one.
Hope this helps
Oh, forgot to say you might want to look at El Pinar de Bedar too about ten minutes nearer to the coast

Hi Chris,
Thank you once again for your contact and reply.
Brian and I are considering either flying or driving our four little dogs (Shih Tzu's) when we relocate to Spain. We particularly are interested in hearing from those such as yourself who have pets. We would also be interested in if Pet Insurance is available in Spain as here in the UK all our dogs are insured. Our oldest will be 13 years old in July and the youngest 2 dogs are 2years old (both sisters).
Brian and I considering either to fly the dogs over with us, I remain with them at our new home to be or he flies back and takes the dogs with him over to spain in a hired van, stopping off on the way at pet friendly hotels, bed & breakfast's etc.
We are trying to work out the best way forward in respect of the dogs as we appreciate this trip (whether flying or driving) will be a stressful experience for them.
Many thanks
Best wishes

I'll let you know how we get on with our road trip.
Were on an early crossing allowing us to get somewhere near the border with Spain on day one, not booked any hotel yet as were not sure if were going down the east or west side of France -
I've posted a question on here asking for advice on best route.
Also, not sure if we'll have just one night stopover or stay somewhere in Spain en-route as well, depends on how the cat is really. I think she'll take it in her stride as shes with us.
Best,
Chris
