Hi,

it has been a very interesting exercise with wildly different quotes.

When I turned down the initial quote I received of £11.6k, they did come back to me this morning with an offer of £8.3k. Attributed as they were able to identify a different partner at the Spanish end, which I felt was strange as I was led to believe they were door-to-door.

Anyway, today I was able to organise several new quotes, with five of them coming in very close to each other. I checked their star rating and reviews, and decided to go with a mid priced one.

Hopefully, I’ve done the right thing - but only time will tell I suppose.

if it had been five years ago, I would certainly have done what you have done. However, the arthritis now even I have it’s me from using a pen - hence the move to the sun!

Thank you very much for your information, it did help me and making my final decision.

Take care.

Hi Brian,

Heads up. Reading you post about 'different partners in Spain' brought back nightmare memories, we also booked a removal company that stated door to door, and it was door to door, just not by the same company, not only did my goods change hands 3 times, they even unpacked boxes and redistributed them, the mess that arrived was unbelievable,  things missing, never to be seen again and things broken.

Have a nice weekend

Jenni

Hi Guys

we are moving to Mojacar in December, I posted a question on here two days ago, and had some very very helpful replies - I thank you very much for this.

We have just received a removal quote of £11,640.00.from Cambridgeshire to La Parata, which includes 3 weeks storage in the UK.

This is based on picking up the already packed goods from our home, storing it for three weeks in the UK, before bringing onto Mojacar. This does include two persons.

I have to say that I thought £11,640 was quite a lot when I’ve looked at other similar (although bit rough) quotes?

What do you guys think-does that sound expensive to you guys with experience?

Many thanks again for your help

Cheers. Brian

Hi sorry I missed your previous post. I strongly recommend Mick Cox - we have used him, but not for a huge amount of stuff, but we found him extremely fair and reliable:

We have found somebody now that doesn’t meet our requirements in terms of delivery, storage and price.

Willie appreciate all the help given.

Hi Brian

Are you planning on moving lock stock and barrel. It would be cheaper to just take treasured possession and buy in Spain.

We have been quote £1,268 via Anyvan see attached. With includes dining table, chairs, sofa, armchair, garden furniture, double bed, TV, coffee table, two chest of drawers, two bedside cabinets, two small tables ( for beside sofa), clothing, plates/pans etc and the contents from my husbands shed,

Hope this helps

Hi, based on partners move from Cambridge region to Almeria region over three years ago it may well be that you're quote is for a complete/solo removal in that I mean you're house removal will be just you're stuff and not a "split" or shared truck load. Partners move was based on us getting her stuff into storage for a number of weeks, can't be sure how long, then transfer out of storage into another facility, again for a number of weeks. What wasn't fully explained was that her stuff was being subbed out and split in order to get the cheaper price. I was in shock when this truck and trailer arrived and the 48" tv was the last thing on, first thing off secured simply by two webbing straps. Nothing was missing nor damaged but price wise, as above split loading is something to consider.

That is very interesting - we also used ‘anyvan’ to obtain A much more competitive quote than that extortionate one we first received.

The quote we have though is still over £3k - and we are not taking any beds, or wardrobes, or anything really that large!

Anyway, it is all sorted now, they will literally be here in the next 20 minutes to start loading up😂
