Spotted this article in the irish daily mirror ... I did not think things were as bad as this for British people in Spain brexit is the worst thing ever for the brits as quoted in the mirror article...

Ah yes the Mirror, it must be true then.  I live here and do not recognise any of this.  The only ones affected are those, for what ever reason, failed to apply for their residency and formalise their status.  Indeed there are many more Brits buying property here than any other Nationalities at present for holiday homes initially.  Try researching the facts rather than rely on the Daily Mirror.

Many of us on here have been saying this for years. So the Daily Mirror is now joining our thoughts. Welcome aboard Daily Mirror.

If you have a grandparent or parent who is/was Irish you are entitled to an Irish Passport. It doesn't work the other way round - both my grandfathers were from the UK and I'm not entitled to a passport from Great Britain. There must be some form of irony there.

Here I am fighting for the Brits and not one 'alf drinking, Panama hat wearing Brit will raise a hackle for me. The more things change the more they remain the same.

Well put, Bess and I don't agree with most of what you have written, but again it's a good post.

One day when we are both in Spain, we must get together and have a good debate!

Hi Bess, When I eventually get to Spain I'll be there for around six continuous months. Give me a shout anytime and from our terrace the first toast will be to Absent Friends (from the UK).

Sadly I believe you will find that Mathew does not debate, it is either Mathews way or the Highway.  Heaven forbid that you should  have an opposing view.  Narcissistic comes to mind.

Hi, I am 70.  We moved here 4 years ago and find it no more difficult than had it been post BREXIT.  The NLV requirements are not that onerous as I cannot believe anyone selling up in the U.K. and relocating to Spain would not be able to meet the requirements.  We are of course all entitled to an opinion and I respect yours and wish you well for your move.
