Hola everyone! I’m new to the forum but coming for a short visit in June Thursday to Monday, getting to know the area in view of buying a home here, are there any recommendations, markets, local places to visit whilst here? Would be great to hear. Thank you

Victoria x

Hi, Friday is market day in Chirivel. The castle at Vélez Blanco could be worth a visit https://bit.ly/2E98IqF If you’re into waking, you’ll be spoilt for choice with all the tracks & paths in the area. Unfortunately, IMHO, there’s not much in the way of good bars in Chirivel, but there are other locations not too far away.

Good luck with the house hunting

Excellent, thank you Puff.

I will visit the market and thanks for the link to the castle.

Once I’ve visited and investigated the area a bit more I’m sure to ask more questions.

Which towns would you recommend for a bar or good tapas?

Thanks again

IMHO, there isn’t much in the way of good bars in Chirivel, V Rubio has a quite a few, but we go to Oria more, mainly because it’s much closer.

They have just reopened the El Chiringuito bar on the Avenida de Andalucia, which is not a bad bar

Hi Richard,

Is that the main road that runs through Chirivel? If so the name dies ring a bell, it was busy each time I drove past, people sitting out. Next time! Thank you

Hi Richard, whilst organising the next Hash, in Chirivel, on the 14th, I thought that the Chiringuito bar was the ideal place to start & finish, but when I was charged €1.40 for one of those small bottles of beer, there’s no way I could take the group there.

Now we’ll be using Bar Lechero, the renovations to the plaza have finished, and there are plenty of tables with shade.

Will we see you at this Hash?

Puff
