Hi

There are snakes here in Almeria but none are poisonous. That doesn't mean a bite wouldn't hurt though so best to avoid them! Juliet.. Your really selling this to me...LOL

Take it all on board...I seem pretty immune to Mozzies...I live in Spain already and I get the odd bite but,

its nothing ...They just...really dont like me !

Juanida   Thank you...

Well... I did see a (smallish) snake in Albox town...slithering along the pavement it went into a crack in a wall and was gone...Not something one see's on a dally basis I might add...but it made me think...OK !!

Snakes in pools I'm sure are not a common site... but I'm sure that happens too.

Maybe one should ask the question... Does this part of Spain have many / any Poisonous snakes ?

...Kindest regards

PS...You are all selling me on the idea of an Enclosure for house and pool BTW...

Hello again,

I've just seen a previous post and confirm that the snakes here are not poisoness but they can be very big (see photo) and are able to bite, but I've never heard of any human being being bitten by one.

The are no cockroaches in the countryside (thankfully) but certainly there are centipedes and scorpions which although not deadly, can give a very painful bite.   Although I do not have a pool, I would never leave a door or window open without something like a mosquito screen to prevent all these sort of things entering the house including snakes.  As for mosquitos, I find that there are less than in coastal areas - or maybe now my blood is not as tasty to them as it was when I was younger!

Best wishes

Thank you Juanida:

I'll def take on board your comments...This topical question started with a concern in regard to Flies ! Now I've got a lot more information than I ever expected, snakes, centipedes, scorpions.

Cant thank you enough... I only hope no estate agents look at these questions. If they do... Your all marked people !! LOL.

Hi Anne

The coast has the most consistently warm temperature all year round but even there you will probaby need a little heating on some January and February evenings.. Larger coastal resorts such as Mojacar are not at all quiet in the summer season, in fact they can become quite manic!. Have a look at the inland towns of Los Gallardos, Bedar, Sorbas to avoid the hordes of tourists. There are also some smaller coastal towns a little up the coast such as Villaricos, El Calon and Pozo del Esparto which are relatively quiet all year round. Buena suerte!

Hi Anne

I would say that you don't need to look too far because you are registered on the Tabernas forum and Tabernas is where the only desert in Europe is situated!

Where taxis are concerned, Tabernas is relatively near almeria city so there will be a bus service and taxis.

Another alternative is Gador.  Not too far from the city and also with a local train as well as buses.

The further inland you go you'll find that property is cheaper, summer evenings are cooler but winters are much colder.  Public transport is not brilliant in rural areas and mostly non-existant.  You say you won't have a car which is a great disadvantage if you are wanting to be somewhere quiet as the Spanish are not the quietest race but you don't want to be isolated either if you don't drive.

Garrucha and Vera Playa are also good places for non drivers.  There are good supermarkets and two  at least have a delivery service.  However, you'd have along taxi drive to an airport or hospital and maybe these places would not be quiet enough for you in the summer either.

The Roquetas de Mar urbanisation by the golf course is not a noisy place and is particularly quiet off season.  There, there are buses and taxis with doctors, dentists and shopping centres within easy reach.  You will have mild winters and hot summers, albeit with a bit of wind at times.  This is probably a better option for a non driver than Tabernas or Gador which are more rural.

Hope all this helps - and good luck!

We've been looking for a house in that area since last September so have got to know all the different areas quite well! Although Los Higuerales is part of Arboleas municipality it is actually quite far out and closer to areas where there might be pig farms. Regarding 'Zurgena area', there are lo...

...ts of houses for sale in El Cucador which, although part of Zurgena municipality, is about 10 minutes drive away from Zurgena itself. You can usually tell when a property is in El Cucador as the agents often say that it is 'walking distance to a popular local bar' which is the one bar in El Cucador. Los Palaces is another little hamlet often described as Zurgena Good luck in your search! Be sure to check that everything is fully legal and registered and that anything you consider buying has a certificate of first occupancy.

Hi Guys...Finally after 3 years of searching I've found THE property...looking to move end of June so not long...

Now need a good Solicitor to do searches and due diligence and help complete on the purchase. The Estate Agent has given me 3 names as  suggestions...

Any Others?...if so,  ASAP please...

Preferably n Albox...?  So, who do you recommend ?

I see these post's lot but cant find any reference...in Albox please if possible.

Thanking you in advance...
