Hi and thank you thats a bit clearer. Will have to re-think my plans of how to work my move out. Appreciate your assistance

An informative thread Vera.

I'm planning on moving over, short/long-term rental, unsure when exactly but I'll be going over September/October time.

Find a hotel for 3/4 weeks with the view of viewing rental properties in preparation.

I also have a house in the UK, however, I prefer to rent it out during my absence.

I'm also an Irish citizen.

Lots to think about and needless to say planning and timing.

I wish you luck.

Hi and thank you. I dont want to rent my house out as i need the money from the sale of my uk house to purchade my spanish home&to live off.  I dont like renting as its "dead money" as im mortgage free now.  Everyones sutuation is different&im ready for a new, healthier, stress free way of life as life tooooo short to keep waiting esp when you loose people close to you without warning. I want a clean slate withoyt the hassle of worrying about a property in the uk if this makes sense

I agree, it is a risk renting out, but for the time being, should I decide to purchase over there, after finding the right property for myself, I'll consider selling

Dont move to Spain if you want a hassle free life, there is a mountain of red tape here since Bretix. Also you might not realise that if you sell your UK house within a Spanish Tax year you will have to declare it in Spain and be taxed on the profit.
