Hi gwyn and Paul

Thank you for your reply we are currently selling our UK home and intend to rent for a couple of years with the money in the bank and hopefully see something in between.

Not sure what areas we are looking for just that arboleas looks good and a lot of the villas say within walking distance to town which is one thing we want.

We will both be 55 and will be living on my military pension with the house paid

Expect questions soon Lol

Mark

Hi Guys,

Welcome on board and enjoy the ride, it's a very informative site.   My other half and I are in the same situation as yourselves, however Brits but living and selling up now in Ireland.  Do you have Irish connections via parentage by any chance,  to apply for Euro passports (makes the process easier and cheaper)?

Do look at other area's, we're also looking next door at Costa Calida and Murcia region; Mazarron, Los Alcazares and Camposol Urbanisation.

Which of you are ex Army, as my username suggests, me too 😁.

Hi. We are 55 in July 😃.  Yes we live near to the village of Arboleas, no more than 30 minute walk but you will definitely need a car!

If you want me to message direct let me have your details and I can try send you some photos too.

Hi ended

We will be 55 in 3 years so hoping to go before then.

Yes I already have my Irish passport applied last year so the process will be that little bit easier.

We have looked at mazarron especially campasol but are a bit unsure because of the lack of habitation certificates for some houses.

Almeria seems to have what we want at the minute.

I'm ex raf did the 22 so waiting for

the increase lol.

Apologies Mark, 'EndEx' is a well known Army term.

That passport is your golden ticket, purely on selfish terms rather than loyalty though.

Habitation Certs and minor subsidence only affects a few properties on 'C'. We're looking at the quieter 'D' sector detached villa's.

We're a few years your senior, but also on our military pension etc, not yet state retired!

Lol I know endex pal we used it all the time as I worked along side my army counterparts SIB.

We are looking into the habitation certs as we were told its all sectors apart from sector A.

Some nice properties there as well.

By the looks of it the pension will easily cover our bills and food as the house would be paid for. Glad I did the 22 now

be very careful if it's cheap property advertised in Arboleas lots of places still waiting 16 years down the line for their legal paperwork. and many now looking to get AFOs to sell but that limits what can be done to the property ongoing.  La Perla is walking distance to the village but uphill all the way back.  Some of the properties are legal some are not.  of course if you intend to live in Spain until you die then a bargain will be available to you and you can hope that your next of kin will want it for use after you've gone.  Private contracts are often used but you still have to use a lawyer to make sure it is cut and dried.  You will need a car to get around the areas though and driving licences can't be exchanged anymore so learn some Spanish to get through the lessons you have to take and the tests, not any schools advertising they do it in Enrglish yet they may catch on. As you are only youngsters you will have to take out private medical insurance cover so factor that into your expenses.  We lived in An illegal property in Arboleas for the 16 years but found someone who wanted our villa no matter what and now live by the coast in Mojacar and can honestly say we have never been happier here and during the lockdown it was the best place to be.  In the villa we would have been confined to the garden here we have been able to go all round our complex unseen up and down the stairs and around with no one else about it was great.  Now  we are opened up it is nice and quiet and lots more to offer than inland.  but it depends on what you like to do with yourselves of course.  As ex army/navy ourselves we like a bit of life.

Hi Alicia

Thanks for the info. I have seen a couple of properties advertised that say they are under innovacion 14 which is what I think you mean about illegal properties.

I wouldn't want the hassle of trying to gst it made legal so hopefully we can find one that is all legal.

We are Coming over next year to spend  few weeks in arboleas to see if the area is good for us.

I believe mojaca is only 30 minutes down the road

Thanks Mark and rosie
