Hi can you please help me, can you tell me if I have been registered in Spain?, we purchased a property in 2015 and we had or NIE numbers allocated  (Número de Identidad de Extranjero) so we could buy a car etc,  we also have a green form With “ Centro Gestor as a heading underneath that is “Direccion General de la policies, then TASA Reconocimientos Autorizaciones y Conursos”

Why I want to know this is that we want to retire to Spain permanently and want to what to do next, do we need to visit the police station to register or has this been done previously, hope someone can help thanks in advance.

It sounds like you have property tax etc set up, but you unless you have a green A4 form, or credit card sized document that attests that you have Residencia, then you will need to visit Extranjeria in Almería and obtain Residencia.

Have you been to the Oficina de la Extranjeria in Almería yourselves? Or did someone arrange your documentation?  If documentation was arranged for you without you attending, then you definitely don’t have Residencia as that must be done in person.

Please also note that to retain Residencia, you must spend 183 days a year in Spain - you become a resident of Spain.

I would strongly suggest having a gestor look at your paperwork and tell you exactly where you stand.

If you do need to obtain Residencia, then it is very much in your interests to obtain a Padrón from local Ayuntamiento which will show how long you have been living in that house - you are registered on the Padrón with the Ayuntamiento, aren’t you? ... if not, it is pretty much imperative you organize that before 31/12, to show you arrived in Spain prior to end of transition period.

Hi thanks for the reply, we do have a green A4 form that’s the one that has the heading Centro Gestor, I know we never went to any office in Almeria, we have our property in Roquetas de Mar and I remember  visiting a office with the solicitor by the bull ring.

Not to worry we are hopefully coming over in August and will visit our solicitor to see what papers we have set up, thanks again for your help
