Hola how's things, please could you advise if someone is thinking of moving from the Malaga region to Almeria the process of moving tie address formely residencia. We have had residencia for many years and are hoping it's just a changed of address formality. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Regards.

I know of no requirement to keep authorities informed of your current address. We have an Almeria city address on our DNI documents and our padron is a Madrid address, but we live in Las Negras, the only downside may be your voting papers may not reach you.

As Chris points out, you can do it electronically.  You are required by law to keep your address updated with CNP, which goes for whether you have a TIE or a DNI.

You are obliged again to go on the Padrón of the area you live as it is not only statement of your permanent place of residence, but also counts for how much money the Ayuntamiento is allocated for services (the more people in their area, the more money they get)

If you check with an abogado or gestor (or failing that, with the police) you will find there is certainly a legal requirement for every citizen in Spain - and every resident here - to keep the authorities informed of your usual place of residence, even if you have several. You may only be moving a few streets away, as I did two years ago, but you must still inform the police and local council of the change of addrsss. It can be done electronically.

Hi, we did the move in September last year.  We firstly updated our Padrons, notified our car insurance company then changed our tarjeta sanitaria and registered with doctor here. Contacted Extranjero in Almeria and no need to change TIE until expiry next year.  Surprisingly easy and painless.  Good luck.
