You indicate checking on your house in England, wondered if you meant the other way around so have given both options.
I suggest you check UK Gov website for updates. My understanding atm is to travel from spain to England you need
A) An antigen test.. tested negative before you fly or negative PCR test for the ferry - these are available locally to where you live in Spain and need to be booked 2 days before travel and tested negative before travel... they vary in cost but sound €40
B] A PCR test for day 2 and day 8 in the England ( Check for Scotland and Wales)
C) Option for another PCR test at day 5 if you wish to be released from quarantine early
All the above tests must prove negative and must be precooked before travel.
D) ATM you have to quarantine in England for 10 days with an option to release after day 5 with payment for an additional test as you still have to pay for day 8!
Additionally you need to have completed a form providing information of your travel and where you will be quarantining on arrival in U.K. I believe all this information is provided by a link with your airline carrier or ferry company and must be completed before travel.
For entry to Spain it is no longer required to have a PCR test but you would need to check if you need a negative test before boarding the plane or the ferry as I am not sure since changes were made recently.
Spain is still on amber list from U.K. so travel restrictions are in place so you have to have a legitimate reason for travel which checking of an existing property or buying or completion of a new property in a spain is accepted.
The U.K. Govt are meeting again the first week in June to discuss further whether changes could be made but atm these are unknown.
I understand that all the above information is available through links of your carrier that you are travelling together with a list of approved companies of which you must choose one and book all tests in England before travel as I believe this information also has to go on the form.

I am sailing from Santander to UK in September but have had very conflicting advice about what test I need & what time limit there is from when I get the test to arriving in the UK.
Can anyone shed any light on this please 🤞
Thank you so much

Check the UK government requirements before you travel, as it can change. But at present you need to do all of the following:
1) A rapid antigen test (Approx 45€, instant result) in Spain before you travel. This must be taken no more than 72 hours before you leave Spain, and must return a negative result. You can do a PCR if you want, but there is no need.
2) To complete the UK Govt passenger locator form
3) If you are double vaccinated in the UK with certification then book a day 2 PCR test to take back in the UK after you have returned. If you are not double vaccinated in the UK, or do not have certification, then book both a day 2 and day 8 PCR test for when you are back in the UK, and quarantine for 10 days at a place of your own choosing (not a quarantine hotel). You will need to book one of these tests and obtain a reference number to complete the UK Govt passenger locator form.
Requirements (1) and (2) are unlikely to change in the near future, but requirement (3) will if Spain changes traffic light status. Currently it is Amber, but there is talk of it becoming Amber+, which would mean the option of only doing the day 2 would go away, and everyone, vaccinated or not, would have to do the day 2 and day 8 tests and 10 days quarantine.

Dear PSY1967,
Thank you very much for your information , it is well appreciated and has backed up everything we have researched ourselves.
What we can NOT understand is What is the difference between a Spanish administered Pfizerdouble vaccine as opposed to a UK , NHS administered Pfizer double vaccination???
My EU/Spanish certificate of double vaccination showing Suppliers Batch cert. No. , dates administered etc etc , should be a Standard Worldwide accepted document. * Surely the vaccines are Uniform in production and are just as effective once administered ... or god forbid have Spain been supplied with a below standard vaccine?
With the UK Gov. not accepting the Spanish cert., we are forced to Isolate and pay stupid money (Which we dont have!) for days 2 + 8 testing whilst going home to visit our family in the UK for the birth of our grand daughters?
Can you or anyone else explain the UK justification for this inequality and possibly advise who we could contact to Express our disappointment.
I have sent an email to NHS UK already as I am worried as to whether my Spanish administered vaccines are effective.

The answer to your question is simple: Brexit. 52% of the UK electorate thought it was a good idea to separate the UK from EU standards, and end freedom of movement, so there is no requirement for the UK to accept EU vaccination certification, and vice versa. Either the UK or the EU (or both) could decide to accept each others standards on this, but that may be politically unacceptable.
The mind boggling thing is that the 52% thought they were stopping other people's freedom of movement, not their own.
