Hi All,

We are/were looking forward to being able to visit the UK after the 19 July. Only to find that we are still not able to go 'isolation free'.

It seems that the UK gov do not recognise the vaccination that Spain are giving to Ex-Pats and the Spanish population at large.

Surely something wrong here ? We have had exactly  the same vaccination that British holiday makers have had yet it seems that we are being discriminated against as we STILL have to go into isolation and have 'day 2 & day 8 ' tests .

IF I have this wrong PLEASE  tell me .

Lol.  Maybe it will change but the U.K is no longer part of the EU. as I’m sure you know 😎😂.      Doesnt have to accept the Spanish system. I’m sure there are a lot of things that work the other way round, knowing Spain.  Cake and eat it ?

I just can’t for the life of me understand why we cannot enter Uk without isolating. I am a UK pensioner resident in Spain and have planned to go to Uk for our grandsons wedding on the 29 October. Our flight has been booked for the 22 October so if this is the case, we won’t be able to attend our grandsons wedding. It is so unfair, we have both had our vaccinations, me Pfizer and my husband Moderna. Why are we being penalised because the NHS didn’t give us our vaccination? Is this just political? If not what is the reasoning behind all this? We have also downloaded our vaccination certificates

I think it’s because although You might not get so ill you can still give it to others

You are travelling into the UK from Spain so it doesn't matter what version of the vaccine you have had the rules apply to you just as they do to anyone arriving in the country being a UK pensioner or NHS vaccinated has nothing to do with anything .  Maybe by Oct they will have relaxed and you will be free to arrive and attend the wedding but if cases soar again in either country don't bank on it.

just cross fingers and hope that this deadly virus dies out soon.

But people travelling from UK to Spain don't have to quarantine here if they have had their full vaccinations. What difference does it make whether we have the vaccinations here or by the NHS. I still say its political. The same applies both ways. People coming into Spain can still bring the virus in even though they have had both jabs but they are not penalised because they didn't have their jabs here. This is the point I am trying to get across.

An announcement from the UK Government is expected in two weeks' time with regard to the ex-pat question. There's also a petition on various Facebook groups.
