Hi, I am a British Citizen and own a house in Spain. I have been offered employment but I am unsure where I stand or what paper work I need. Can anyone advise me please. Many Thanks

Yes; first question will be : do you have Residencia? If so, all you’ll need is your Número de Seguridad Social to give to your employer, and you’re away.
If you DON’T have Residencia in Spain ... then it’s a whole different ball game.
Let us know where you stand and we’ll take it from there.

Ok - owning a house helps your case when applying for an NLV, but to take up employment you’ll now need a work permit.

You’ll see about halfway down the page is the section regarding Work Permits. It’s not my words, I did a cut and paste from the various sites that dealt with work permits for Third Country Nationals.
As you have someone willing to employ you, this may we’ll work for you - although your employer will have to be the one that applies for a work permit for you and they can take up to 8 months to be granted.
Take a quick look, see if it’s any help to you

Tim; OP doesn’t have Residencia. NIE is not Residencia, it is just a financial number, they need to be legal in the country first - i.e. .... have Residencia.
As a Third Country National WITHOUT residence, OP has to apply for a work permit now
Not only that, OP has someone willing to employ them, so no need to register self-employed.
(And Autónomo for self-employed in Andalucia starts at 98€ per month (if over 55), and it’s pegged for 2 years. After that it rises every 6 months until maximum payment of (now) 325€ per month is reached. Yes, I run a business here.)

Me 2 98 first year then double second year if he has a job then he just needs the visa. How long that takes i don't know. But its a no brainer if it takes 8 months to get employment work visa and 3 months for a self employed autonomo then work 6 months selfemployed until he has the employment visa. I can only speak from my expireance

As a TCN you can’t work in Spain now without a work permit - at all.
To be self-employed as a TCN you still have to apply for a work permit, but it’s an order of magnitude more difficult - you have to show sufficient funds to start a business, have a detailed business plan and can be required to show that you have orders or contracts for which you need to start a business in Spain. It’s a long, convoluted and very very very expensive process.
Unfortunately UK residents can no longer come across and register self-employed. If they come on an Non Lucrative Visa, that bars them from any form of remunerated employment. On an NLV you can’t get an SS number for work and If you are caught working cash in hand you’ll lose your visa.

Hi Tim, thank for your email. Yes I do have an NIE number. I would be very grateful if you could possibly forward me details of your English speaking Accountant in Almeria (as I only speak a little Spanish at the moment) and I will contact him/her.
Many Thanks
