Hello Everyone. I have just joined the group. We live near Granada but would like to move to albox or similar area. We would like to be near some English people after being in a all Spanish village. But do not want a golf urbanisation. We would like to be involved with some classes We have a 10 year old Granddaughter living with us so info on a good school where she could be with some English children would be great. And some after school clubs or activities for her. Not too far from amenities. Quite a wish list but this will be our last move as we are retired .We would like to do some walking possibly along a promenade. Also is it a safe place. I know there is crime everywhere but on the whole. Thanking you for any helpful replies

Albox,Arboleas and surrounding areas are inland villages with ex pat populations if you want to walk along a prom you will have to drive to the coast approx 40 mins away.  Schools are available in both villages but they are Spanish so your granddaughter will need the lingo.

Thank you for the reply. My Granddaughter speaks fluent Spanish. But it will be nice if there are English speaking children in the schools. Do you know any more about both areas please.

Albox is the larger with lots of shops good Lidl, Mercadona and Dia and english shops plenty of good eateries and larger schools which have english pupils.  Arboleas is smaller and quieter with a local english papershop and a Corviera sjupermarket bank med centre and dentist with a few local bars.  Smaller school and also english pupils.  perhaps someone with children in the schools can give you some info as we don't have any.

You might find somewhere like Huercal Overa is a good options too.  Really good mix of nationalities pretty good schools ((I am told).  Lots of amenities, good hospital, theatre etc

Arboleas has a very large British population and there will be lots of children of Brits in the schools. It's an attractive area though with lots of citrus and olive groves and lovely mountain views. It's made up of 9 (I think) hamlets. The main village has a few shops, 2 banks, pharmacy, medical centre etc and 8 or 9 bars/restaurants. Some of the hamlets have facilities others don't so you can pick and choose what sort of area you want. We live near the main village and it's lovely. The only thing I don't like is we don't have enough Spanish neighbours for me to practice my Spanish on!
