Hi, your S1 is part of your proof of income, ie pensions etc.
Its good that the international pensions and DWP will send the forms out but be aware it can take up to 8 weeks as they warned us.
We're in the final throes of getting medical cards and just today at the local medical centre had to provide NIE, your Spanish national insurance number you get when either buying or via proof your renting from your landlord,
The padron whereby you inform the local town hall that your intending buying or renting in the area,
Other medical forms from the doctor you choose that gets you on the Spanish healthcare system.
It all involves some legwork and forms and stamps, the Spanish love their stamps and beuarocracy lol.
Your E111 or Ehic will get you 3 months temporary medical cover when you get the forms from your doctor.
Lots of things involve your NIE and padron. Residencia is in amongst all the above, all proof your serious anout living/residing here.
Its not just a matter of you coming here and thinking the UK and Spanish health care systems will work together to get your medical needs seen to.
The one positive about having jumped thru all the hoops is that as pensioners you only pay 10% of the cost of prescriptions.
If you need more advice then contact the citizens advice or maybe someone else can be more precise.
We've been here since the end of March and whilst we havent been chasing everything since arriving it does take a while. Your S1 is just the start lol
