My humble opinion, for what it's worth is this.

We haven't decided to move to Spain after having a brain fart. It's not a whim. It's something that we have been researching, planning discussing and asking and answering a thousand what if questions. We are convinced and committed to the move.

As for renting, I couldn't agree more with Donna. Waste of money, in fact a huge waste of money. Here's the kicker, I couldn't afford to rent the type of house which I can comfortably afford to buy.

Another area for failures is people who come to Spain looking to open a business. As you all know, there's a huge shortage of bars in Spain. 😁

Everyone will have there own opinion you really do need to come and try it out for yourself. Rentel is probably the best to start with. We do have a home hear which we are using more now that we have more time.

There's another factor which I have thus far stayed away from because its probably un-PC and politics is different for all of us.

But as so many people are hell bent on advising me to rent, here it is.

1. Already pointed out, it's a waste of money.

2. England has been going rapidly downhill since a certain jugged earded moron became PM in 97. And was then succeeded by the man, so accurately described by Jezza Clarkson as a one eyed, Scottish idiot. Pretty accurate I thought.

3. The real end for the UK came when Cameron was campaigning for a General Election and he started talking about green issues. Come on, a Tory party leader trying to appeal to tree huggers?

4. Last but not least, I am not, nor ever will be ready for Sharia Law.

5. Now to something that I can control. I will retire in 7 weeks after 53 years of full time employment. Sadly, I cannot afford a decent lifestyle in the country where I have contributed tens of thousands in tax. I'll state it really simply. I can afford to EXIST in England, but I can afford to LIVE in Spain. I am not prepared to just EXIST.

So unless you pro-rental people have got a spare half a million you dont need, I'm afraid that my mind is firmly made up. Indeed, we will complete the purchase of our fantastic villa in El Prado just after new year.

In that case, hello neighbour. El Prado is one of the developments just over the rambla to Arboleas.

Great. We're hoping to complete and move out early January. The hold up is, of course  bloody English solicitors. They really are the most over paid  inefficient people on earth.
