Hi

Does anyone know what the broadband speed is around Mojacar and surrounding areas? I work from home, currently on BT 50Mb+ which is great.  From what I've seen there is limited fibre at the moment although it's being rolled out.  Is that right?  Any feedback much appreciated.

thanks

P.

Fibre is rolling out and spreading far and wide in Mojácar, albeit slowly. I currently get a stable 260 - 300 mbps.

Hi

Thank-you for letting me know.  That's fantastic news.  Are you in the old or new part of town or are they the same? and what's the monthly cost?

thanks

P.

Hi P

We are on Mojácar Playa. I get Fibre 300 + Spanish TV + Landline Phone with unlimited minutes in Spain + two Mobile SIM cards, one with unlimited minutes,  texts and 25GB of data, and the second SIM for the wife with unlimited minutes in Spain. Total is €46 a month on a one year contract; less if you opt for the two year contract.

Hope this helps.

Derek

Thank Derek... good to know.  Will be over in September to start looking at properties for rent.  If you have any thoughts on that it would be much appreciated. Good estate agent, that speaks English, would be a great start.   Thanks P.

Hi

Still awaiting reply from Derek but have to say quite unimpressed with Estate Agents locally. We purchased through Spanish Property Choice in 2013 & amateurish would be a fair summation. Then we had a Dutch acquaintance, fellow motorhomer , arrive looking for Rental. We took him to every agent in Mojacar and half of them couldn't be bothered to 'get off  their buttocks'. So when dear friends were looking for a rental we put an advert in the local Facebook Forums. Several immediate replies & they now have a beautiful apartment.

So, 3 Mojacar Facebook Forums and a few encompassing Vera/ Garrucha, etc.

Avoiding estate agent fees should get accommodation cheaper but do look up the Legal Requirements for Rental Properties in Spain. e.g should be A/C and heating in  each.living room and bedroom, etc, etc. Many are cheaper because they are not registered/ up to code but perfectly liveable.

Sorry so long winded.

Dr. Bob and Sandra.

For a good estate agent who occasionally speaks good English you can't go wrong with Paul Fullard at Next Stop Almeria. Really good pre and after sales service, very ethical, good recommendations for tradesmen, lawyers, currency etc. We've bought both our properties through NSA and have been very pleased both times. https://www.nextstopalmeria.com

However they tend to deal more with sales than rentals, so for rentals have a look at D&D (http://ddpropertycarealmeria.com/) or for more long term Wendy at Blue Sea Villas is very good (http://blueseavillas.co.uk/).

Hi P,

I have been here a

Over ten years, with hand on heart I can recommend John Smith from Mojacarmar, and Wendy from Blue Sea Villas, well established and never heard a bad word said against them. Wendy only does rentals and will have a good selection after August, look her up on Google. Be very careful of agents asking for ‘search’ fees of one months rent, or two months or more deposit. These have no fees, just one months rent deposit, and a months rent in advance when you move in. I have no connection with these people and they don’t even know me, lol.

Regards

Derek
