Hi, just wanted to say thanks for all the interesting posts on this forum, we are looking at purchasing in Illar (if there are any bargains left) at the end of the month and have found all the information given by various people on here, invaluable. Thanks Gill :-)

Hi , I am new to the forum and I am looking for some advice.

We have been thinking of buying a holiday home in Spain for some  time , our favourite town would be Nerja area of CDS however property is too expensive for us, I have registered on a couple of property sites and receive emails with property offers and I have noticed that property around Illar / Almeria seems reasonable.

I received a mail today and it had a 2 bed apartment with garage space for about £30K in Illar and it got me thinking

Our requirements are at least 2 bed must be able to commute from airport to the town / village easily, like traditional tapas bars etc not looking for a community full of Bingo or steak and kidney pie bars!

I am due to retire in the next 18 months and envisage us spending a couple of visits of 2 months at a time, so would like a community were  we could arrange for someone to keep an eye on things while we are not there.

I would appreciate any suggestions re best places to look for a property and best area to look to buy in .

Now the important stuff would like a garage / space where I could keep a motorcycle , budget well I like a bargain so open minded but initially say £60 K .

Any advice / recommendations welcome .

Hi all

I’ve just been thinking about those of you planning to buy in Illar. We need to find some work at some point, just one or two days a week, and I struck on an idea. 

Would it interest you to have a service available where someone local looked after your place? You could let us know when you’re coming over so you arrive to a spic and span place with the sheets all changed and milk in the fridge? Then when you go just pack and leave - we would then come in and clean the place, strip the beds etc? If you were planning to rent your place out we could do the same and make it ready for arrivals, clean up after and sort problems while guests are here. 

I would provide references etc of course but I’d be interested to hear whether you think this would be a good idea? (But saying yes wouldn’t make you beholden!)
