three supermarkets (no more expensive than consuum) Butchers (0pen 3 times a week0 Bakery (every day) Fishmongers (Tue - Sat) Two banks, several bars, a nice restaurant (Dulce Casa). Hairdressers, Beauticians
In fact every thing you need.

Vera Playa is quite widespread now with some of the urbanisations being a fair walking distance to the beach/bar. I have lived here for 8 years near the Consum and love it. Most of the bars/restaurants are open all year, the beach is massive so even now in August not overcrowded (unlike Bournemouth Brighton etc.). The bus is also a bonus should you need it, very punctual other than July & August, it runs hourly into Mojacar & Vera and from the bus station in Vera can pick up buses going to other regions. We both drive but last year decided to go by bus to Valencia for a few days, bus from Vera to Murcia then change for one to Valencia, very cheap, buses comfortable and all on time. I like Villaricos, Palomares and St Juan, but the convenience of VP wins for me.
