Hello,

We have a new inexperienced President and a new team running our Community, at long last, but they have a mountain of legacy problems to deal with. One of our possible problems below is amongst them and I would like to clarify the situation for them and lighten the load if possible?

First question:

Did the swimming pool regulations change in 2023 for pools of urbanisations with 20 or less residents - namely do all pools now have to put a fence around them?

I had read a Spanish newspaper article, back around October, that said the previous exemption for <20 homes had been changed. In October we were visited by a woman claiming to be from "the government" who talked to our outgoing President on two separate occasions (who is now "incommunicado" due to being in a huff for his own incompetence). The outgoing President said we needed to put a fence round our pool.

Secomd question

Do the pool regulations of 2019 still apply?

I have the regulations in Spanish from the Andalucia government website and at some point we have to replace the hardly readable sign. Rather than re-invent the wheel, it would be good to know what other people have that conforms to regulations. The previous President was good a t posting signs about his pet hates, rather than legalities / obligations. :)

And I do appreciate that all pools may be hit by drought and closed but I believe the God of Andalucia will provide floods before the end of winter and I would like to prepare....:)

Apropos of pools being closed … I don’t think so - we are in a large Urbanización that has two pools.  Both were drained just after Christmas to have tiles replaced and be re-pointed.  Both pools have only just this week been refilled.

Sorry I can’t help with the regulations - although if it would help I can go and photograph the brand spanking new “pool regulations” board that has been erected at our pool(s)

Thanks Dario!

There is no rush but it would be interesting to see what is on the board?

I have to believe this woman that came is not bona fide. It may be the old administration company stirring up trouble...  but you know what officialdom is like here, it can be a little random but if you are on the wrong side of it you have nowhere to go :)

So far, no one else has found any coroboration either.

I went on the official Andalucia website and translated pages of the 2019 regulations which is useful for classifying different categories of pools but ther was nothing to back up the newspaper article syaing the under 20 pools urbanisations would now have to comply. Perhaps the press story got the idea killed at birth but we will see.

Thanks again :)
