... open a bank account and start to fund it regularly. I have found a property to rent for 6 months from 1st September, but I am a little concerned whether this will be sufficient for the purpose of application. The abogado i previously spoke to in the area said that anything over 3 months would be ok, but I shall wait a bit and see whether she still feels that is the case under the new system.
I do hope that having the funds available to buy a property once I decide where to live will help in any process.
Hmmm, fingers crossed for a bit
I would agree with the Abogado - given that Residence in Spain is anything more than 90 days, and the application will take up to 3 months to process, then a 6 month let should be sufficient to get the ball rolling, especially considering Extranjeria don’t ask to see the rental contract, only the Padrón and the Padrón doesn’t specify how long the contract is, only how long you’ve been registered at that address.
