I would appreciate assistance in this matter as I will be insuring a car in January.
I am looking for advise as to which insurance company or broker people would suggest to contact.

We have always used Linea directa. They have always offered a competitive price and we are happy with the service. We never opt to give them our credit card details and pay annually that way hubby has always managed to 'negotiate' a renewal for no more than a few euros more than the previous year.

Another vote for Linea Directa from me. They have an English language customer service line.
The other thing to know about insurance companies is that in Spain it is mandatory to include breakdown cover in the insurance, so any broker or company that tries to sweeten the deal saying “we’ll add this for you at no extra cost” or similar are being sharks!
Most insurance companies will offer breakdown cover with a recovery service limited to 120km from the home address. Not much use to you if you break down in Madrid as you are liable for the cost of recovery up to the threshold.
However two companies in Spain offer unlimited recovery kilometres. They are MAPFRE … and Linea Directa. MAPFRE are good, but expensive. I have both my cars insured through Linea Directa
