I'm arriving in August on my second visit to Vera Playa after a very enjoyable holiday last year. Then the beach was busy and very socialable.

Are there any restrictions on apartment pools?

Good to hear today that UK restrictions on travel have been relaxed and let's hope it stays that way.

Hello.  Regarding the beach.  Everyone is observing the social distancing.   My friend was told to wear her mask from the prom to the sand and then she could take it off until she left, then put the mask back on.  There are patrols I believe to ensure these rules are adhered to.  With regard to the community pools, they are open but I believe the administration are saying what you can and cannot do.  And there are notices up to tell you how many people are allowed in at any one time.   Hope this is helpful.

With regards apartment pools, not all are open.  Medina at Vera Playa have voted to remain closed for summer; so it’s definitely on a community basis - some are open, some not.

Yes I agree Dario.  Luckily my urbanisation is very small and is open but with reduced capacity.  Until this week I have had it to myself.  There is sanitizer though for our hands and a mat to wipe our shoes on.

Same here, control of access to our pool, one gate in, another gate to leave so there is no chance of those arriving and leaving bumping in to each other; also sanitizer provided and showers are mandatory before use.  ALSO ... we have a roster so only certain blocks can use the pool at certain times.

Urbanización has JUST started getting summer visitors this last week and I can well imagine the howls of protest when they discover they can’t go to the pool when they feel like it ....

Thanks for your responses.

Goodness knows what will happen between now and August and just have to hope that things will improve so that restrictions can be eased.

Without being the prophet of doom, I’d not hold much hope for that.  The restrictions put in place have been put in place for the entire summer season; the pools that have voted to stay closed, again, have voted to stay closed for entire summer.

The social distancing / masks are now law in Spain and are expected to remain in force until a vaccine is found, and released for general distribution.  I wouldn’t hold much hope for any easing this side of Christmas

I’ve just booked my AirBnB flat right near Vera Playa. Will be booking my flight sometime next week. I can’t wait to be back in Vera Playa again as it’s been three years since I was last there. I’ve heard some pools are open, but if the one near my rental flat is not, it won’t be the end of the world. As long as I can relax on that beautiful beach, I’m happy.

same in our complex except that the poor lifeguard has to implement the rules so some holiday makers are not using sanitiser or showering and have been diving and splashing.  The numbers using the pool area are few but the slots have to be booked through the office which is only open in the mornings and not at weekends so then it is the discretion of the poor lifeguard again.  They are cleaning it to between sessions so that's a good thing.

We don’t have a lifeguard here - we do, however, have a VERY active Presidente de la Communidad and he is known as the Condo Commando.  If people transgress rules, he does let rip and tell them in no uncertain terms.  If people start playing up here, he’ll simply chuck them out of the pool and bar them!!  Who’s going to stop him? He’s been presidente for the past 10 years or so ....
