Without wanting to sound facetious, you do understand that this is Spain, and English is not one of the official languages?

You would have a better chance of that around Benidorm or Malaga, but I am not aware of any English operated taxi services in or around Vera Playa, nor specifically English speaking drivers.  You *may* find some drivers / operators with a basic grasp of English, but my honest suggestion would be to make the effort to learn a few basic words of Spanish and use Google translate for the rest.

A few of the drivers for Vera Cars speak enough English for you to get by. Some speak it very well.

Ring the switch and say

Un taxi para (your location) por favor.

It's very basic but they will understand you and probably immediately know your not a Spanish speaker.

If they say donde? just repeat the location.

I use them multiple times a week.

Well said.

Said it before and it needs to be said again 'esto es españa el idioma oficial es el español'

If you happen find a Spaniard who speaks some english complement them on thier command of English.

I find that Spaniards are always willing to help me with my Spanish and are complementry even though I know I am making a complete hames of the idioma

Thank you so much for your very helpful and kind reply . The information and advice you gave is invaluable as we will be visiting with a very disabled child and unfortunately my Spanish is not yet good enough to communicate all her needs . Thank you again .

The reality of all this, of course, is when you try to speak a little of any local foreign language ( not just Spanish ) invariably people try to respond in English!

Frustrating when you want to learn the local language but nevertheless don't let it stop you from dipping your toe in the water!

You will make friends. People will go out of their way to help you, certainly in Spain.

For me its part of the travelling experience and learning the local culture.

Otherwise whats the point in travelling?

Thank you to everyone who has replied to me . I am grateful for all contributions. I am having Spanish lessons and don’t always expect someone to speak English . I was just grateful for extra help with more difficult circumstances . Thank you

Hello. My parents are staying in las marinas, Vera almeria and need to do a big supermarket shop…I can see a Lidl a 10 min drive away… are there any local taxi services that can take them?

Thanks
