I have seen numerous posts from people considering changing banks and replies saying how good (or otherwise) their bank was.  However, I cant recall anyone giving information on how the bank change went. Was it easy or a nightmare? I am considering leaving Unicaja in Mohaka and although I am nor happy with the charges of 10 Euro a month the service is generally okay.

Thanks for any replies.

We were with Unicaja Mojacar and decided to change for the same reasons.  We chose Bankinter which is principally an online bank without comissions.  However it does have the advantage of having a branch in Vera if you need a face to face consultation about opening the account or any problem arising later on. We also can use more ATMs (without charge) than when we were with Unicaja. Bankinter also arranged certain standng orders to be transferred but pensions coming from outside Spain you had to arrange yourself, also telephone, electricity, insurances and town hall taxes.  My UK pension I transfer monthly via Wise.  My husband's French pensions were the most difficult as being deaf he can't handle phonecalls or  anything  online either.  Anyway., apart from France taking ages to compute the changeover,  everything else was quite straight forward and now a year on, we are happy to have made the change.

The Bankinter account only requires you to deposit 800 euros per month to remain comission free.

Interesting so you can pay in 800 for the date required then withdraw it and pay in again when the next date comes along

It’s the same with Sabadell - they require 700€ per month coming in to remain completely fee free. You can pay 700€ in and take it out the next day - no problems.  Been with Sabadell since 2014 and not paid 1 céntimo in charges of any kind

In our case it's  a Pension Account, but there is a similar one for those who are not pensioners.

We closed our account with Caixabank 2 years ago and only use Wise. No more monthly fees, good exchange rates, pensions paid in to Wise and all outgoings cash or bank transfers no problems ever.

we moved our Cajamar account from the branch in Arboleas to Mojacar what a palarvar it was!  First they closed the account down in Arbo then opened a new one in Mojacar it took from 10 am to 12.30 as the internet was so slow and then they still hadn't arranged our savings account and shares transfer because Arbo couldn't access the internet to do it!   Why they just can't move an account to a different branch without closing it they couldn't say.  We also had to inform the State pension department of our new account number so that was an interesting phonecall to UK, thankfully they answered quite quickly.  we wait now to see if the pensions arrive in the correct account and if all our direct debits go out as well.

That sounds like a good plan! How do you pay basura etc via Wise?

They set up a direct debit, they ask for your bank details, IBAN  etc.. Job done no hassle. If you already pay it via bank, send them an email with your change of account for bank transfer of your current DD to them. Simples.

Hi, I'm with Sabadell (Curenta account) in Mojacar and a Spanish resident. I pay in at least €700 a month but they still charg me €20 a quarter for the account. When I queried the charge she said that because I don't have any other products with them like insurance I have to pay the charge. In addition, the Mojacar branch is closing in July so Vera will be my nearest branch. I would love to change to another bank but I'm not sure I want the hassle.
