Hi we bought our apartment in Residential Las Marinas opposite the beach and with the complex that has Millionaires bar and now the new Pizza and Indian restaurant.  The pizza restaurant relocated from las Bulongvillas area and was our favourite so we are pleased. There is also Laguna restau...

...rant on the corner and Dees bar a bit further along. We love to be by the beach and then finish up in Millionaires for a drink and something to eat. Millionaires also has all the football and sports on tv.  It's great to walk along the paseo to Garrucha and the restaurants there.

There is another community also call Las Marinas and I think this is between la Laguna and Garrucha but further back from the beach. Unfortunately we have only managed one long weekend in January this year but my son managed to get out in the summer months.

We haven't witnessed any floods, it does rain heavy for a short while around second week in September but we are on 1st floor so do not have that worry.

Good luck on finding your new place.

Cheers Grant . Seems the Buganvillas area and in particular the corridor adjacent to Ave San Sebastian El Cano was badly affected in 2012 nrTorrelaguna and the Las Marinas urbanisation where I have been looking.

The area seems nice and I agree the walk along the promenade lovely but the u tube videos certainly give me cause to steer away from any flood plane areas in an otherwise nice location.

Thanks again for bothering to reply all ...guidance on the best and driest! Areas around Vera Playa welcomeđź‘Ť

I lived in the area for some 5 years now.To someone who is about to live here my advice is to avoid a lot of the Brits that get in these solely speaking English bars. Most of them are a real pain and very clicky and if you not one of the " in crowd" beware.Strikes me a lot of them are boring and are bored out of nothing to do but drink all day and criticise others.Ive been hit, spat at and my sports car vandalised so much so that I had to sell it....Much better to get involved with the local Spanish, learn the language and customs. The charity shops are always looking for volunteers etc....

I agree about having a decent car over here unless you can garage it or have an enclosed driveway.  However i disagree about Brits boozing all day you must have been going to the wrong bars Biggles.  My husband drinks at the same bar every day.  Stays for about 1 hr.  Is quite happy with his own company.  Talks to the staff and will listen  politely to any stranger who strikes up a  conversation.  In 20 years we've been here you know  who is a boozer who cannot hold his drink and they are by and large the younger set.  Not the older retirees.  As for mixing with the spanish you will find they tend to drink more coffee than alcohol and alot of them are not friendly unless you can speak fluently  and rapidly.  Don't tar everyone with the same brush.  The holidaymakers are the ones who cause trouble not the regulars.  And its the Spanish who are the most inconsiderate drivers and dont mind hitting cars in front and behind in order to get into a space.  We've had our car keyed when there have been no Brits around.  There is good and bad in every race remember that.

Sorry, Lynn77, but how can you say "Dont tar everyone with the same brush" then make the comments you have about the Spanish?

Im  married to a Spanish señora and know all too well about the standard of driving down here I don't agree however that the Spanish were responsible for the damage to the Mustang.Im pretty sure it was older residential Brits jealous and envious of my Mustang.it was deliberate vandalism,I am pretty sure who did it but obviously I can't prove it.......

Susie .  The Spanish people i know are great.  But where we live there are no British around at christmas time which was whenour car was keyed.  I was just trying to point out that there were good and bad in every race certainly not getting at the Spanish in particular, except that in our case there were no Brits around at that particular time.  From what the original message contains it appears that the writer from Palomares thinks he knows who did the damage to his car.  He must have some unsavoury neighbours then if he's convinced  it is in a jealous older British person.
