Hi,

My husband and I are planning to live in the Velez Blanco area. Can someone tell me what are pros and cons? We are remote workers and good internet is a must. I see that humidity is very low, how does it affect people?

Thanks,

M.

I recommend that you join the "Los Vélez & Lorca Area Forum" facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lvalaf.  You will find lots of local chat on there.

Difficult to give you pros and cons of Blanco without knowing what you are comparing with, and indeed whether you are looking in the town or the surrounding campo. If you are looking for space, fresh air, views, broadly Spanish, mountain walks, then great.  If you are looking for Mojacar or Albox, then less so.

Many people in the area source their internet from Znett, whose transmitter is above Velez Blanco castle, so hopefully you would have no problem. If you are serious about high speed connection then I have heard several people praising Starlink, and the price is coming down. Failing that, I was sat outside a bar in Blanco recently speedtesting my data on my mobile, and was amazed to see >100mb/s.  If you have a signal where you are then you could just hotspot your house with that.

Velez Blanco is 1000m above sea level, so humidity is definitely lower than Mojacar.  Easier to sleep at night without noisy aircon in the summer, but colder in the winter.

Thank you very much, yes we decided to live there in a hacienda 6-7km away from Velez Blanco.

We live just outside the village

And get decent enough internet from next communication

Star link is available but we don’t need the extra speed

Welcome to a beautiful village
