Hi Chris

Thanks for the latest info. I received exactly the same information from the U.K. government website this morning that sends me updates re Brexit as we are resident in France.

We want to move to Spain as France is becoming increasingly expensive re utility bills, tax and social charges hence my numerous questions re the date it is necessary to be resident in Spain.Despite advice on this and other threads I still can’t find  whether we have to have to arrive in Spain  literally by the last day in December 2020 . Or would it be advisable to rent somewhere a couple of months before so as to have the necessary documents before the end of December 2020.

Regards

Marie

I think it’s pretty clear that you need to be living here well before the Dec 2020 end of Transition date. I know there’s a possibility that Transitionmay be extended but our PM is legislating against that. Remember, you not only have to be here before 31.12.20 you have to have obtained residencia by then. Allow for complications, getting all the papers ready, engaging a gestor, avoiding Navidad holiday etc - you really need to get your residencia certified during November latest I would say.
