Excessive water bill

We recently spent 10 days in our villa at the start of September. We do not have a pool.
Our 'normal' water bill for two months is around 40 euros including standing charge of 21 euros.
We've been presented with a bill of 300 euros, water usage of 85 cubic metres!! The money has been debited from the bank.
The water was only switched on for the 10 days we were there, as we switch it off at the main when not there.
A leak you would presume, as we did, we have had a plumber inspect the site and cannot find a leak.
Has anyone else experienced this type of problem. It's really frustrating as the water company refuse to accept anything other than pay up!
