Hi Folks,

We (my wife and me and my 86 year old mother!) are visiting Mojacar for the first time next week and we are staying at hotel at the top end of Mojacar playa. (going by the map anyways!)

We are looking for nice restaurants to visit at night and then possibly on to bars which would have entertainment such as a quiz, bingo or even karaoke!

Having never been, are taxis readily available and what would the cost be to go from the top end of the playa down to the bottom.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Kindest Regards Drew

Hey Lads, Leave the cynicism to Ol' Matt, here's my choice in order of good food, good service, professionalism, setting, friendly staff etc:-

1. Bellavista (by a distance)

2. Martín Morales Gastro (just a few mins further on west to east).

3. Levante (Don't be put off by the plastic chairs and tables and plastic menu).

4. Sensations

5. Imperial (near Red Cross Roundabout)

6. If you've done the 5 above start all over again at Bellavista.

7. Sunday Lunch:- O'Shea's Kitchen

I could have mentioned Antoinella (fairly good), Martín Morales (pretty good), Twister (fish 'n' chips Friday only and a bit of lip from the owner if you deserve it!- good at what he does).

Forgot to mention Imperial Palace Marina (Chinese) for value and good food and friendliness and chipitos you don't have to ask for.

Forget the taxis - good to get you somewhere and despite your tip not good at getting you back. Use the Yellow Bus (L1) to get you to the Pueblo and back. I presume you're staying at Hotel Indalo or Puerta Marina. Enjoy!

Sorry Matt but hard not to be cynical with such a broad general question-

Good food -  subjective answers abound!

What do you want English, Spanish,Italian, Chinese ????

Cheap eats or fancy,  lunch or tapas

Ask for recommendations on this site and some would recommend Scottys (bleah) not even if it  was the last place after a nuclear war

not to slag off your suggetions but .....

Twisters wouldn't eat there if they paid me .

Bella vista haven't been

MartinMorales was turned away on a Wednesday night with no reservations

Levante herself was put off by plastic chairs (lol)

Vista Del Mar not bad I like the fact that they remove the shells and devien their shrimp good hosts too but lets face it if your NOT a good host your business would not survive.

Piamote for their breakfast 5.50 full English good price and serviceI

If you staying down the Stables - Red Cross End -Hotel Indalo end their are a wide selection of places... if on the other end

Restaurante Delfín Dorado exelecent Menu del Día

Italian  Trattoria Sottocasa

Fancy Restaurante Neptuno

Brunch handsdown (for me) La Cantina De Floor Garrucha

If your after fish well Garrucha has loads of places do what most reccomend follow the locals

A trip in to Garrucha is a far better choice if up that end or  ets not leave out Darios' haunt Vera and Vera Playa

Most resturants will call you a taxi if you are willing to wait or jump up in the middle of a drink when it arrives in 5 minutes after being told 20

Thanks Matthew and Airtaine for your kind replies - i really appreciate your help!

We are staying at the Hotel Continental. We're on our first visit to Mojacar and thought we would reach out for local knowledge of the area. Apologies for the lack of detail on my part!

Kindest Regards Drew

Grand so I hear that the hotel itself has a good resturant Delfin is directly accros the road and the bus stop riight out side the hotel If you plan it right use the buses instaed of waitng on taxis.

Within walking distance,  for drinks and music,  The Crows Nest theres Hola Ola

The Continental.end is a much quieter end of the Playa use the bus to get around

. . . from that area the Yellow bus L2 will get you to and from the pueblo. The yellow bus L3 will get you to the other end of the Playa and beyond. Enjoy.
