Hola mis amigos,
After a leaving a post that got way out of hand, for a number of reasons, I was struck by one comment that this forum should not be about slagging off English this, Irish that or Spaniard the other but about helping with answering questions. Maybe giving tips on food, where to get certain items or an interesting local meal one may have had or made lately.
Local news and politics were also mentioned but the latter could be a mine field and again have a good thread spiral out of hand.
I was thinking to myself 'Self how bout a post that could possibly be enjoyed. One where people could possibly be amused, entertained, given some ideas by, or make them go ‘HMMM… I did not know that.’
Also gives some opinions about various places, activities events and general things in and around Almería
Hopefully they could read it every day without getting their backs up. One where people could post something like –
Last Saturday we wanted to take a spin up to the ‘new’ IKEA in Almería to have a butcher’s and maybe get some bits and bobs for the new gaff. Off we jet and find it looks like an IKEA but only smaller. After parking up, we find the cafeteria and discover it laid out like a Mickie D’s. Kiosks for ordering food and counter for collection etc. So, after a decent café con leche and tostada offskie to the store. Turns out to be the little offspring of all of the larger stores very cleverly laid out with the meandering walk through the different furniture sections but to me seems a little hemmed in and claustrophobic. One gets the idea that they are stream lining their operations somewhat.
After a good wander and a few more selections than we would have anticipated we come to the checkouts. It’s here where you see where they have really been cost cutting. No vast sea of closed cash desks with the odd island one open in the next county.
Three self-service lanes with about 8 cash desks each. One lane for those using an IKEA app- pick up and items and scan them to your phone point phone at the cash desk pay, I think. One lane each for efectivo and tarjeta.
I would guess on a busy day you could probably anticipate a bit of a delay here but the yellow shirted minions, I spotted, seemed to be everywhere assisting and each desk has a red flashy light above it if the buyer seem to be in trouble.
So, love it or hate it, it’s an IKEA. If the trip to Murcia is too much you could have a wander over. it’s not quite as good as the larger stores, IMHO, they have but it’s still good for the ould ideas for decorating the way the vignettes are laid out.
Plus, it’s hard not to come out without buying something you possibly never knew you needed or wanted try buying PRESSA Hanging dryer in Nijar or a local tienda de muebles
If you do like some of the clever ides they have and cannot resist some of their items, maybe check out some of the websites dedicated to IKEA hacks.
This was part of a very enjoyable outing over to that area of the Costa. There was more but maybe that’s for another time.
I am not trying to be Book of Face clone or Insta or blah blah here just more in line with the ideas behind the forum offering my opinion on something
If so, some suggestions please if you post. These are suggestions only we are all adults we should not need lessons in manners or cope on.
1. Respect people’s opinions ‘I like cilantro’ Well I do not I think it the devil’s food and your I think you’re a gobdaw’ not helpful. If you do not like the posts or people who post them you do not have to read them or comment
2. Can we avoid the B word please
There are probably more but let’s ‘Run it up the flag pole and see who salutes’
PS as for the funny I receive a bunch of cartoons and comics from number of feeds that I enjoy in the mornings to start the day with a smile well most days anyway the other day I saw the one that made me blow coffee all over my screen.
maybe you would like to post a funny story or anecdote
What do you think?
