So Spain needs the Brits? I don’t think so. I can imagine some confident non Spanish speaking Brit walking into Sensations shouting “You Need Us Brits.” The silence would be deafening as the Spaniards roll their eyes towards the heavens. Nobody needs the Brits. Wake up and smell the coffee....

... You were duped and you don’t even know it.

Read again, I did say IF

Maybe they don’t need the Brits, but without them there’s a big hole in the budget to fill. Who knows? I don’t. I do hope though that a better deal on longer stays can be worked out to benefit Spain and those pesky Brits

Sorry Geordie, Spain doesn't need the Brits. The Brits in Spain need the Brits from the UK and from anywhere else. In a nutshell it's called Rental Prospects. Look up Price-Brown website and note there are 4 pages of properties for sale in Mojacar Playa now as against 2 pages six months ago of properties in the same price group.

L181SKY is right, it's all about the money. But, it is British money or again in a few words:-  Rentals and Sales from the UK.

. . . . and most of the people reading this voted for it through Brexit!!!!!!!!!! Like I said earlier Wake Up and Smell the Coffee. Ask anybody working in an estate agent office.

Whenever I’ve used sensations mainly those wonderful October to March months it was 90% Brits in their Mathew . It might be Spanish youngsters in the summer so doubt any confident Brit would be so daft . When I was in business the loss of one or two customers wouldn’t break the bank but every loss reduces profit so maybe Spain doesn’t need the Brits but trust me it would be losing a lot of money and jobs and businesses . All this them and us really doesn’t have to be an issue . It’s like saying does Cheltenham need the Irish ☘️ bless . It would be a sorry place without the lads and their euros . . Hi Devo, I picked Sensations because no Brit is working there. I agree 95% plus of customers are English speaking. But Mr Tomas is not holding his breath despite his investment in the premises. Neither do I think that Cheltenham Festival wouldn’t survive without the Irish, because it would. It’d be a bit less colourful though.

Every good business wants to maximise its profits, such is the nature of the beast. But, despite warnings from the likes of me and some others the Brits bit the hand that feeds them and left the protection of the EU. Worse again many of those who voted for Brexit did so for less than honourable reasons. For the first time since the referendum I can see the UK reapplying for some sort of EU membership. But, try convincing the Tory diehards.

On a personal note I made a rare few bob on the gi-gis at Naas and Navan this weekend. I lost some at Cheltenham though. But ended up well ahead.

Totally agree no ever going to happen, but wishful thinking.🤣

Why not? It's an agreement between the UK and Spain. It doesn't affect the EU outside of Spain. Spain wants it. The EU might want to punish the UK for Brexit but why would they want to punish Spain?

My point is that you are not familiar with EU rules.

I am. Spain needs to request extending the 90 day rule from the EU. If you'd read my post you'd see that was precisely the point I was addressing. But hey, facts eh?

I think some of the points made in earlier posts on this thread outline the problems Spain would have in doing what you suggest.

It has nothing to do with the E.U. wanting to punish the UK for Brexit.
